The next 24 hours were incredibly difficult. Taylor was in an incredible amount of pain, even despite the pain medication she was being given around the clock. Most of her time was spent curled up in Travis's arms, as being held by him was the only way she got even the slightest bit of comfort. The doctor assured them both that this was a perfectly normal part of recovery, but Travis was still nervous that this could be a sign that something was going wrong with Taylor's recovery.

As predicted, Taylor had to make the difficult decision to postpone the remaining November shows until January to allow her enough time to recover. Most fans were incredibly understanding, sending well-wishes once the news broke that she had undergone emergency surgery. Within minutes of Tree releasing a statement, #GetWellTaylor was trending on Twitter, with millions of fans coming together to wish her a speedy recovery. Despite that, however, she couldn't silence the little voice in her head that was telling her that people were angry with her.

By her third day post-op, Taylor was in much less pain. She was able to get up and walk independently for short distances, and with Travis's help she had taken a slightly longer walk in the hallway that morning. She felt so incredibly safe in his arms, and today was no different, his strength in literally holding her upright giving her the strength to push just a little further in her walk. The doctors were so pleased with her progress that they were willing to discuss an early discharge, so long as she wouldn't be traveling anywhere for at least another week and that she would have someone with her at all times. Fortunately, Travis had a bye week, so he was able to stay with her without needing to miss any more practices or a game.

Tree was able to secure a hotel for them for an additional week, and Taylor had never been so relieved to arrive in a hotel room before in her life. The tour crew, dancers and band had all been sent home for their impromptu break, and Taylor's parents had gone home once Taylor was safely in the suite. For the first time in nearly a year, Taylor and Travis had a full week for just the two of them. While they both wished it was under better circumstances, they were grateful for some quality time together. They planned to lay low, watching movies and ordering room service, just enjoying one another's company.

"Hey babe?" Travis called from the sitting area, "They don't have chicken tenders, do you want nuggets or a chicken patty? Or I can see if anywhere around here would deliver."

"Umm, can we look for somewhere else? I sort of had my heart set on tenders," Taylor mumbled, earning a soft chuckle from her fiance.

He quickly found a local restaurant on DoorDash that had chicken tenders on their kid's menu. Taylor gave her approval after looking at photos in the reviews, so Travis placed the order, getting a burger for himself and an extra side of fries for them to split. Taylor was finally getting her appetite back for the first time since her surgery, so he was happy to get her exactly what she wanted, even if it required a little extra effort. Taylor appreciated that he didn't judge her at all for her quirks when it came to food, something she had begun to grow accustomed to in her past relationships. But with Travis, she didn't even need to ask to see the reviews, he just knew to hand her the phone so she could look at the pictures to make sure the chicken was the right texture, even if he didn't fully understand what that meant.

When their food arrived, they opted to move to the sitting room, taking a much-needed break from the bed. Taylor had chosen a movie for them to watch, some comedy they had both seen countless times that would serve as perfect background noise. There was something so special about the way that the two of them could simply co-exist together, both zoning out slightly while they ate. This week was shaping up to be a highlight of the year, despite the rough start. She was delighted to have this one-on-one time with Travis, and she was trying to soak it up before the inevitable hectic few weeks they would have over the holidays.
