It had been almost 2 months since Carson was born, and Taylor's mental health was at an all-time low. She had struggled with her milk supply from the start, finally giving up and switching to formula about a week ago. That had been a hard blow for her, feeling as if she had lost out on a huge bonding opportunity with her daughter. As much as she was relieved to see Carson finally gaining some weight now that she was getting enough to eat, she couldn't shake the guilt that her body had once again failed her, and the little voice in her head kept telling her that maybe she just wasn't meant to be a mother.

The little changes in Taylor's behavior didn't go unnoticed by her husband. He started to worry when Taylor stopped responding to her friends' phonecalls and turned down multiple invitations to get together with their closest friends and family. So when the pediatrician asked how she was adjusting at Carson's 2 month appointment and she insisted she was fine, he knew he needed to say something.

Taylor left the appointment with a diagnosis of postpartum depression and a call booked with her psychiatrist to discuss changing her medications. The pediatrician had reassured her that this was incredibly common, which did bring her some sense of comfort. She encouraged them to lean on friends and family while Taylor worked with her medical team to find the right balance of medications and therapy to bring her back to her baseline.

And so here they were, on a flight to Philly with their screaming 2 month old to go stay with Jason and his family for a few days. Kylie had booked an afternoon at a local spa for her and Taylor, hoping that a few hours of pampering would do her some good. Taylor was nervous to leave Carson for the first time, but she knew that Travis was more than capable of handling anything that might happen while she was gone. Plus, Jason would be there to lend a hand if he needed it.

They arrived at the house late Friday afternoon. Wyatt had just gotten home from school and was excitedly showing her parents everything she had done at Kindergarten that day. Kylie greeted them both warmly before taking Carson out of her car seat to soak up some snuggles. Jason helped Travis unload their bags from the car, getting everything settled up in the guestroom they would be staying in. Taylor was more than happy to curl up on the couch with her nieces, exhausted from the flight and the difficult night they had with Carson.

The rest of the evening was spent catching up with one another and playing with the girls. Jason ordered pizza for dinner, a Friday night tradition in the Kelce household. Taylor and Travis were grateful for an evening where they could eat without holding Carson, as Kylie and Jason stepped in to keep her calm during dinner. Taylor could feel herself relaxing more and more as the night went on, soaking up time with family after feeling so isolated for the past few months.

While Kylie got her girls settled into bed, Taylor took advantage of how calm Carson was with Travis to take a quick shower, wanting to freshen up a bit after a day of traveling. She soaked up the brief moment of quiet and hot water, grateful that her daughter seemed content without her for once. When she got out of the shower, she was surprised to find Travis in the bedroom changing into pajamas.

"Where's Carson?" she asked, pulling her pajamas out of the suitcase.

"She's with Jas," Travis replied, "She was getting a little fussy again so he took her while I got a bottle ready and she settled with him right away."

"Oh thank God," Taylor whispered, earning a laugh from Travis.

"How are you feeling, Tay?" he asked gently, "I know today was a really long day. Are you feeling up to hanging out with Jason and Kylie for a while still?"

"I think so, maybe just not for too long. I'm pretty tired," Taylor replied, "But the shower helped me feel a little more human."

As they made their way back downstairs, Taylor was surprised to hear how quiet it was. This was normally Carson's fussiest time of the day, so she was surprised not to hear her whining or screaming. As they entered the living room, Kylie quickly shushed them, pointing across the room to where Carson was asleep on Jason's chest.

"She just fell asleep a few minutes ago," Kylie whispered, "She finished her bottle too, so hopefully she'll sleep for a while."

"Thank you," Taylor whispered, tearing up in relief, "I don't think we realized how much we needed some help with her."

"We're always happy to help. Besides, I swear Jason's a baby whisperer. All three of the girls always napped best on him in that chair as newborns," Kylie laughed.

Jason gave a big smile and thumbs up from across the room. Carson stirred slightly on his chest, but quickly settled as he gently rubbed her back. His face lit up as his niece snuggled into him, her little hand gripping the ends of his beard.

"Thanks for getting her down," Travis said, making his way over to his daughter, "Do you think she's in a deep enough sleep to put her in the travel crib?"

"She's only been down for a few minutes, but I don't mind holding her for a while," Jason whispered.

Taylor and Travis settled onto the couch, scrolling through Netflix before picking a random comedy movie that everyone thought looked good. Luckily, Carson stayed asleep even through the new noise in the room. Taylor was asleep within the first twenty minutes of the movie, her head falling to Travis's shoulder. He gently woke her up, suggesting they head up to bed and try to get Carson settled in the crib.

Carson woke up slightly when Travis picked her up, looking up at him with her big blue eyes and immediately settling when he held her close to his chest. He was nervous to get her settled in the crib, since at home she usually slept in the bassinet attached to their bed. They had set up the small travel crib at the foot of the bed in the guest room so she would still be right near them, but he was a bit worried that it would take them those extra few seconds to get to her if she woke up screaming in the middle of the night.

Once she was settled, Taylor and Travis both crawled into bed, completely exhausted even though it was just after 10:30. Taylor curled herself up around Travis, feeling her eyes getting heavy with sleep. Travis found himself absent-mindedly playing with Taylor's hair as he listened to the soft sounds of Carson's breathing. The small room felt incredibly peaceful, a safe haven for the little family as they all drifted off to sleep.
