She was surprised that she wasn't bombarded at the door. She was truly thinking that her friends would be ready to question her about anything and everything. Lucas's and Megan's room lights were off, the only lights being the ones from the living room. It wasn't too late where both her friends were already in bed. Plus, it was a weekend, so it would be extra surprising if her friends were already in bed.
She walks into the living room with the TV on and playing quietly. If she was being honest, the whole feel of the apartment felt calming, perfect for winding down.
Where are they? They texted me not even 30 minutes ago.
Ignoring the living room for right now, Kiki heads into her room to get ready for the night. Thinking a shower would feel great. But her mind was still stuck on the absence of her friends.
___________Kiki was currently sitting on the couch, bundled with blankets in the corner. Her phone sat in her lap as she focused on the movie playing on the TV. Her friends still weren't present. She had checked their bedrooms shortly after she got out of the shower. Finding neither of them.
At that point, she was freaking out a bit. She checked all windows and doors for forced entry and didn't find anything. She then searched to see if anything was missing. Nothing. But then she saw how both their phones were gone and relaxed a little, until she realized someone could have taken those as well.
She ended up standing in the middle of their apartment before thinking to text or call their phones. And when she got a text back saying they would be back soon, she felt extra dumb.
So, yes, now she's relaxing, drowning out her own embarrassment with TV and anything else that pops into her mind. Which obviously turns into her thinking about this afternoon with Stray Kids, which then turns into her overthinking. Lovely.
___________She's about halfway through the movie when she hears the door start to unlock. The noise of a quiet argument making its way through. She smiles fondly at her friend's antics. Kiki pauses the movie, waiting for them to get into the apartment all the way before acknowledging them. She could hear the door swinging open and hitting the wall; their conversation flowing through.
"Did you bring me food?"
She loves to see her friends startle at her presence. Being naturally quiet in general comes in handy at times like this.
"Holy- what on Earth!" Lucas cries out. Spinning to face Kiki, who was still sitting on the couch.
Megan had startled a little quieter, but still obvious by the fact her eyes were open wider than usual and the hand on her chest, as if she just had a heart attack.
"Why?" Meg asks. She wasn't sure why she was asking, but it felt right in this situation.
Kiki's eyebrows furrow in confusion. "What do you mean, why? I asked a question first." At this point, Lucas had gone to his room and came back in pajamas.
I guess he got over his jumpiness quickly.
Meg puts her hands on her hips like a disappointed mother. Or someone who is questioning their life decisions. But all the same, "I thought you were going to be in your room doing whatever but sleeping."
Lucas laughs at her statement. He knew it was very plausible. "Oh, and no, we didn't get you food."
Kiki rolls her eyes, unsurprised about that information. "Of course, I only wait for you guys to get home to make sure you survive the night." Okay, maybe she was a little concerned, but she was in fact sad that she didn't get food.
Meg plops down onto the couch, leaning on the armrest. "Honestly, I'm surprised you survived the night." Lucas, again, laughs at the statement.
"I know, right! I totally thought she was going to text us complaining about how loud the group was or that they were being pushy." Lucas says, sitting in between the two.
