Part 17

It was hard.

Manny and I are in the park, I got a call from my burner phone it's Ruth, I told Manny he can run around with Milo, but stay where I can see them. I took the call, Ruth asked me how I am doing, I told her we got through the holidays, and now we're in a new year, it seems odd without Cecil. Ruth told me Dyland told her how hard it was for us, just remember Dyland is a part of her and that makes me a part of her too, if I ever need to talk, she's just a phone call away, she wanted to be here for the holiday's, I told her I understand she called Dyland and that's something, I wish I could've talked to Cecil.

Ruth told me, he'll always be with us, she said she has to go, say hello to Manny for her, I asked her before she hung up, does she get tired of running, she said someday she'll get the one person who is a threat to her, and come out of all of this, I told her just be careful she hung up.

I knew who she was talking about, Maximillion will get his, I looked over and Manny is talking to Pierre, damn why is he here, I thought we saw the last of him at Ekim's Christmas party, he left two days before Christmas and now he's here.

I walked over to where Manny is, he said look his friend Pie is here, I'll have to teach him everyone isn't his friend. Pierre said happy new year to me, Manny told me that Pierre has come back here to live, I said really for how long this time.

For good, Pierre said, he's tired of waking up in a different bed, he just wanted to go home, his father died right before the new year came in, so he's been with his mother in LA, but that's not home Savannah is his home. I didn't say anything, Reese told me how Pierre doesn't stay in one place long, it's like he's running from something.

I told Manny we better get back to the house, Manny said do we have too, I told him Liz will be wondering where we are, and we haven't had lunch, Pierre said so join him we can eat at the Ole Pink House. I told him I'm sure Liz has something for us at the house, Manny asked can Pierre eat with us, please, and he can show him what he got for Christmas, Manny looked hard into my eyes, damn he knows how to get to me. I said if he likes, Pierre said he'll get his car on the other side of the park and meet us at the house, Manny got Milo and we walked to the car.

I didn't have to ask why his car is on the other side of the park, no doubt he was looking for trade, we got to my car and headed home, when we got there Liz said it's about time we got here, she was about to call the police. Manny said being late for lunch isn't a crime, she told him just go wash up and let Milo run around the backyard.

Manny did what she said, Liz told me the mail is on the table, I told her thanks, and do we have enough food to have someone join us for lunch, she said we do, she went into the kitchen. I checked the mail and I almost passed out, it's in Cecil's handwriting, but how could this be, there was no stamp on it, just my name.

I took all the mail and went into the kitchen and asked Liz about the letter, she said oh that one was delivered here, it came from Dexter's office, I said I knew the letter couldn't have come from the grave.  She asked me what I am talking about, I told her I got a letter from Cecil, she asked am I sure, I told her I know his handwriting. I opened the letter, it said my dearest love, I know it was a shock to see my name on an envelope, I told Dexter to wait until after the holidays to send it to you, I know the holidays are hard for you, and I wish I could've been there for you and Manny, but I couldn't at least not in the flesh, you know I will always be with both of you.

I just wanted to say enjoy the new year to my men, and Liz too, she better be taking good care of both of you, or I'll come back and haunt her ass, just joking. I know Manny and you are in good hands, and as for you my love, promise me that you will find someone to share the love you have inside of you. We only get one chance at life, don't waste it living in the past. Kiss Manny for me and tell him to look up to the heavens that's where I'll be, your loving husband. Oh PS, just a heads up so you won't be shocked again, I'm sure you were seeing a letter with my handwriting on it, anyway you guys will get letters on your birthdays and for you on our wedding anniversary, I want you to smile when you think about me, for I am smiling down on you and Manny.
