"Don't you think that's a bit far-fetched?" Michelle asked Jay with a raised eyebrow.
We were in his room, talking about the situation at hand. Michelle was lying face down on the floor with her pink glitter notebook. I was sprawled out on his bed, faced up like a starfish while Jay was sitting in his bean bag chair playing 'God of War III' on his console.
I told them everything I knew about the DIVISION and Ms. Marge to refresh their memories a bit, so I didn't have to do a lot of explaining later on. Jay then suggested something that didn't even cross my mind.
To be honest, it's unlikely but then again...
This woman is in the Legion.
"Trust me," Jay said, "I don't want this to be a reality way more than you do." He scrunched up his face in disgust and gagged before muttering, "I ate those things."
"It's probably not the reason she's stealing bodies-" Michelle trailed off, "I mean-We're not even sure about the stealing bodies theory. It could be some other person. Maybe someone who escaped from an asylum" She looked at me and I spoke.
"Bodies started going missing not too long after Ms. Marge came to town. It can't be a coincidence. Besides, there's no way someone from an asylum would be able to get away with this for so long."
Michelle frowned and changed her position, crossing her legs and resting on Jay's bed frame. She scribbled around in her notebook with her pink pen mindlessly drawing some doodles of puppies and kittens, "We don't have any evidence or proof we can use against her. All those are just theories. She may not even be in the Legion at a-"
"I saw the mark." I interrupted, "She's in the Legion. I'm sure."
"We still need evidence." Michelle insisted.
Jay turned off his console then switched off the television. "Let's find evidence then."
I sat up on the bed, copying Michelle's sitting position, "What do you mean?"
"I mean we break in."
"Err-"
"What? Are you crazy!!!" Michelle demanded staring wide eyed at Jay, "We can't break in!"
"Come on Michelle!" He exclaimed. She crossed her arms and narrowed her eyes at him waiting for him to continue, "Ms. Marge's apartment is only a floor away. We could sneak in, look around for a bit, then sneak out before anyone notices."
"I'm not breaking the law." She shrugged, "How are we going to get in anyway? It's not like she leaves the door unlocked."
"She doesn't but always places the key under the doormat before leaving every morning." Jay said with a smile, like he was proud he knew that.
"And you know that how?" I inquired but he didn't answer me.
Michelle turned to me with a frown, "We still can't do it. It's illegal and irresponsible. Right Gwen?"
"You sound like Simone." Jay teased but Michelle ignored him.
I picked at my sleeves and looked down, feeling guilty for what I was about to say, "Well-We kind of have to-"
"See!" Jay yelled, pointing at me, "We have to break in. It's the only way."
"No, it isn't." Michelle disagreed, "There's always another way."
She was right but we had to bust Ms. Marge and get rid of her even though I didn't know how to do the second part yet.
I crawled on the bed up to where Michelle was, "Please," I begged, placing a hand on her shoulder, "We're not taking anything, just looking around."
