He wasn't sure how it happened, nor did he ever really desire it, but Choi San had formatted himself in his school as someone with status. People searched to be around him, be friends with him. Be a friend of a friend of his. He was never short of attention - turning every corner, he would bump into someone eager to greet him.San chalked it down to a few different things. He had no shame in acknowledging his accomplishments gained at the mere age of 19, taking pride in being Captain of the school's football team, earning the privilege at the youngest age in their history due to his dedication and drive. He was also the title-given Top Student in the other areas of his education, a favourite of his teachers for always engaging with his whole heart in their lessons, earning A's and 90-100% marks across all tests and exams. Beyond his academic winnings, he was also just an easy going, relaxed and helpful individual. His energy brought people in naturally. Polite, well-spoken and respectful to anyone and everyone. San chose to not focus much on the fact that his appearance was also a heavy contributor to people's pull to him - he wasn't stupid, he knew he was not unattractive, but by now he had learnt to cleverly spot the ones who lingered because of his external beauty from the ones who had interest in his internal beauty.
When San took the time to really deep his life until the day he was present in, he realised he'd never so much as faced a hardship in his entire existence. He grew up raised extremely well by a loving set of parents, eager to push him to succeed but never more than he could handle. He credited his Mother and Father a lot for the man he had become, and would come to be. He had everything, yes, but he had earned it respectfully.
All the above combined with the support of his three dearest friends that had remained as close as brothers since elementary, had left San an unfathomably lucky individual. They had in turn watched one another grow and flourish into handsomely endearing young men, and San was a prime example of how good life can be when your environment is filled with nothing but positivity and care.
So...
Why, more times than he could count, had he felt so... bored?
Like he needed things shaking up. Not drastically, just enough to present something new to his life. Anything close to a problem that had come his way had resolved as quickly as it arrived, whether by his surrounding peers, parents, or magically just by itself. Not even so much as an argument. Even his team's opponents in their games had always maintained a respectful approach to him, even if it was just him alone.
But it's not just like he could request something so strange. San urgently tried to brush off his desire for something more chaotic to come his way. He never wanted to appear ungrateful for his easy sail through his adolescence, and so never dared to try attract anything out of the ordinary. He knew there were a lot of people that would kill to obtain even a small percentage of his good life. So he did what he always did when these thoughts resurfaced, and buried it deep down, to continue in his peaceful and tranquil existence.
Little did he know, just because you don't go searching for it, doesn't mean it will never arrive.
