San woke early the next morning, the memory of last night in his car with Wooyoung still burning holes in his mind. As he led staring up at his ceiling, he wondered on the best approach to take when seeing the boy in just over an hour for his second day.He was mature enough to not be shy or awkward with Wooyoung. Whatever they had going on obviously crossed the line of simple friendship, but a little fun never hurt anybody.
What San did need however, was a bit of a clearer understanding on what 'whatever they had going on' entailed. Things would have been easier to just go along with the flow if Wooyoung wasn't a new student, purely because San and his friends were currently all the boy had. He didn't want to put Wooyoung in a compromising position, or make him feel like would lose out on the blossoming friendships he was forming should he and San fall through.
Sighing, San settled on treating all as normal until he could pull Wooyoung aside for a quick chat at some point during the day when they were alone.
He got up, showered, dressed and ready to leave, en route to pick up Hwa as usual.
"Hiiiiii Sannie!" Hwa pitched loudly as soon as he got in.
"God, my legs are killing. Yungi both ran laps around me in training last night, well and truly kicked my ass. Well, when they weren't too busy trying to secretly feel each other up through leg and shoulder massages."
San snickered at the shipped nickname they'd given their friends, as well as the remark that followed it.
"Been there one too many times with those two. The attempts to keep it subtle are more obvious than when they just do it regardless of who's watching. Don't you remember the infamous dare at Jonghyun's party a couple months back?"
San and Hwa grinned at the memory. In a game of truth or dare, the bottle had landed between a random girl and Mingi, with another party goer daring her to give him a 2 minute lap dance. Before the poor girl had even stood from her place, Yunho had quite literally catapulted himself over to Mingi's body 'as tribute', sending a warning look to her before turning the 2 minute dare into a 20 minute one that had to be relocated elsewhere in the house due to Mingi trying to pull Yunho's shirt off multiple times.
"Don't! Oh god, they'd be mortified if we brought that up for them when we get to school." Hwa cracked up.
-----------------------
"Guys, do you remember that time at Jonghyun's party when Yun-"
As quickly as he tried to get his words out, Hwa was met with a flying cushion to the face by a blushing Yunho, who could tell a mile off what the following words were to be if he was permitted to carry on. Mingi simply scoffed and carrying on running his fingers daintily through Yunho's hair as he lowered his head back onto his shoulder.
As San and Hwa relaxed into the opposing seats, San scanned the room quickly for the face he was searching for.
"Guys, has Wooyoung been in here yet?" He queried.
"Nah, me and Yunho were here pretty early, if he's at school he's not been in here yet. Hopefully he makes it without breaking another assholes face in first this time." Mingi joked, missing the way San's face lit with concern.
What if it'd happened again? Surely after San's words with his classmates, Wooyoung would be left alone? He didn't even get his number, in the midst of a busy day and an... interesting... end to their evening. What if someone had stopped Wooyoung on his way here?
"I need to look for him. I don't think he knows to come here first thing in the mornings. I didn't tell him to. I wonder if the Principal told him during his induction. Surely, nobody's tried to hurt him, no?"
San's friends watched in silent bewilderment as he rambled aimlessly, speaking more to himself than to them. As they all shared a raised brow, they glanced beyond San to see Wooyoung walking in, Hwa cheekily holding one finger up to his lips to the boy, encouraging him to stay silent.
"Oh my GOD, San, you're right! Woo has no idea where to go! Now that I think about it, I bet something has absolutely awful has definitely happened to him." Hwa dropped his face in terror, adding drastically to San's self-created panic with Yunho and Mingi holding back laughter with all their might.
San's eyes widened in horror.
"You think?? FUCK, Hwa, I knew I should have picked him up this morning. Right, Mingi and Yunho, please check the lower grounds for me? They've probably dragged him somewhere out of sight. Oh my God, I'm going to fucking kill them. Hwa, please ask the Principal for Wooyoung's contact details. Right, EVERYON-"
San finished the rest of his sentence muffled, as a soft small hand came from behind him to wrap around the front of his mouth before he alarmed all students and launched a missing persons investigation.
The three boys couldn't physically contain themselves at this point, cackling away like hyenas as San spun around to face the shorter, stood gleaming up at him like an angel.
Wooyoung giggled, not yet bothering to remove his hand so the taller was forced to regulate his erratic breathing through his nose. "I appreciate the search party Sannie, but I'm right here. Hwa told me yesterday where you meet every morning. I'm not usually one to get to school until the minute class starts, but I thought..."
"There's something in this room worth coming for." Finishing his last words in a slightly closer proximity than the first ones, sweet eyes darkening with that fire San had rapidly become accustomed to and craved. The heat forming between them was doing absolutely nothing to help prevent San's heart from bursting out of his chest, feeling like his world came to a standstill.
With that, Wooyoung let his hand fall from San's mouth, letting his pinkie linger a little on his bottom lip so delicately that nobody could've spotted it. Luckily enough, the students had resumed their own activities after seeing nothing was actually wrong, and the three boys on the sofa were sat wiping away tears at San's fantastic meltdown.
"Seongie, that was a mean trick to play on your best friend." Wooyoung joked, lightly tapping Hwa's knee as he sat down.
"I couldn't help myself, I'm pretty sure he thought you'd died Woo."
San sat rolling his eyes, his ears still flushed at Wooyoung's private remark. He prayed the others chalked it down to the melodramatic debacle he'd put on.
As the 4 sat and poked fun a little more at San, the first bell rang, each boy bidding their farewells and headed to their respective classes.
San walked Wooyoung to his first lesson. He found himself slightly apprehensive to leave, despite having text one of his football players the night before to keep a look out for the shorter in his absence.
'Sannie, I'll be fine! You're just a little worked up because you got yourself in a panic earlier. I have your number now, so if I need you I promise to text." Wooyoung spoke softly to San, drawing a line through his teasing. He didn't want him to worry his way through his own lesson.
"I know Woo, just make sure to do that, okay? I can leave my class at any time for this." San encouraged sternly, mindlessly pushing back a loose strand of Wooyoung's hair from his brow without so much as a second thought to their surroundings. He could really care less, if he was being honest.
Wooyoung nuzzled subtly into San's lingering hand around his face, before nodding his head. The two quickly found themselves maintaining their gaze for longer periods each time, each passing moment lost in it proving them with an understanding on how to speak without using their words. It worked wonderfully.
