"Holy fuck. I can't believe I just did that."

Wooyoung and Nina settled on a bench outside of the front doors to the building, taking a quick breather after gaining a permission slip from the principal to do independent study in the library instead of their own shared class, as well as the okay to continue with independent study after dinner for the first half of Wooyoung's last lesson. When the two had approached the principal, a simple look at Wooyoung's state told him something was off, with Nina offering an impressively construed lie as to why he appeared so disheveled.

"I've never seen you that worked up, Youngie. Are you okay?" Nina asked softly. Wooyoung and the girl had bonded like two naive children meeting another for the first time. Neither had exceptionally well developed social skills, and had their own experiences with the likes of bullies. After Wooyoung's gentle efforts of reaching out, Nina had eventually opened up whilst being paired for a mini project and quickly realised they enjoyed one another's calming and nurturing presence. They had yet to really meet outside of school or escalate their friendship, but both were grateful to have each other during their shared class.

"Yeah, yeah I'm okay. I just saw red. I never knew how angry I could get on someone else's behalf. I've never felt that way before. They don't know him, Nina. They don't know everything he's done for me. San effectively restored my faith in people, as a whole. He's not the fucking egotistical monster they made him out to be. Maybe I should've punched one of them just for good measure."

Both Wooyoung and Nina chuckled, arms interlinked as they sighed and gazed out into the environment in front.

"It's real good to have you back. I messaged you just to check in, but I didn't need a reply. I know this last week will have been hard for you. There's a lot of people who care about you, Youngie. Even without needing to insult San to show it. Those two clearly never saw the way he looked at you, every time he looked at you."

Wooyoung's slight smile faltered, but never left. He scanned through all the memories of the times he'd find San lingering at him for that little bit too long, not quick enough to pull his gaze away when caught. The way his ears would redden at the tip when Wooyoung would tease at him.

"He's an idiot, but he's my idiot. We had a good thing going, Nina, and now it's all up in the air. I never imagined in a million years that things would unfold the way they did. How could I ever have prepared? San was the last person I wanted to know about the assault. I knew it would scar him, and it has."

Wooyoung dropped his head to Nina's shoulder, stumped once more on how to upkeep his progress journey. Every time he set out to do things his way, a bump in the road would throw him off.

Nina let her head fall to the side, meeting Wooyoung's. "I don't doubt it would've hurt him to find out, and that hurts you by association. Don't let that sympathetic approach consume you though, Youngie. You still have the right to be hurt. To process and heal, in your own time, unaffected by the state of others. By the way you've turned that boys life upside down since your very first day, I can tell he'd wait a million years to be by your side again."

Nina hushed following her response, catching the soft and poorly-hidden sniffles of the boy buried in her shoulder. She continued her stare forward, letting Wooyoung get all he needed to out of his system without any extra fuss. Wooyoung mentally praised her for being exactly what he'd always wished for. A true friend he had made all by himself.

If you asked San to repeat back any single piece of information from his current lesson or from lunch, you would be met with absolutely nothing.
