"Should we try get him out of detention? Maybe put some of your Head Boy powers to use, Sannie?" Yunho questioned through a titter. It was easy to see that the boys spirits had lifted after a very dry spell week of moping and misery, thanks to the dramas the day had provided them, including their reckless foul-mouthed saviour and his antics.
San returned a smile as the three walked through the bustling hallway. "Yeah, I'll go grab him. The teacher doing detention hall today is the one who tried to have my Grade 10 essay assigned to the exam syllabus for younger years, so she's got a soft spot for me. You guys going home, or sticking around?"
"We'll stick around and wait for you both. We wanna go stuff our faces with all the foods we banned from our diets leading up to the game, now we've got an appetite back. Figured you two would probably want to do the same. Meet you in the parking lot?"
Sending a nod their way, San watched as the pair sifted their way through the crowd, the two comically larger than everyone else boys staying hand in hand despite it probably being easier to split and walk single-line. He found himself unable to think of one teasing jab at the action, knowing that if it was him and Wooyoung in that situation, he'd bulldoze every person in the way for him.
Bittersweetly, a minute never went by since his chaotic arrival where San wouldn't picture Wooyoung in his every moment. Today had somewhat lightened the anxiety of his departure, but not completely resolved it. Only reuniting would heal San well and truly.
Taking a deep breath and willing himself to not let that upsetting reality drown him, he made his way over to the detention block.

"I know, Ms Nam. It's incredibly shameful for me to have to resort to this, especially with us both in our Senior Year. I'll make sure to reiterate to Seonghwa the importance of respect for our teachers who work so tirelessly to academically prepare us for the rest of our lives."
Since arriving to the hall and shooting a stern eye at his shit-eating grin, enthusiastically waving friend sat sprawled out at his desk, San had made a beeline for the elderly woman forced to spend her free time with the misfits of the school.
The teacher had allowed San to borrow her momentarily for 5 minutes outside as he begged with his best adult-pleasing persona to let Seonghwa out early.
"I wish your friends upheld the same standards as you, San. Maybe if one in particular did, I wouldn't have a chewed up wet detention slip clinging to my bin from the second he walked in and spat it out, marking himself as present. I've a good mind to keep him here longer past the hour assigned to him."
San blinked and nodded sympathetically, refraining with all of his might the urge to laugh.
"It's inexcusable, Ms Nam. If it was up to me, I'd leave him here to repent for his behaviour earlier. But between me and you... Seonghwa is a mess. He's acting up because of personal issues. He's confided in me that he's been suffering with relentless nightmares as of recently, and has even started wetting the bed again. He needs help."
The poor lady's eyes widened in shock as she attempted to remain professional at San's 'confession'. He hadn't wanted to pull out the big guns, but she'd shown no sure sign of willingness to let Seonghwa go. Choices were made for the better.
"A-ah, right, well. I'll keep that between us. You're fine to take leave with him, San. Please ensure Seonghwa seeks help for his... sleeping troubles."
San has to physically turn away to conceal the blinding smile spread across his face, walking back inside a few steps ahead from the in-shock teacher to retrieve his friend. Signalling him over, Seonghwa beamed cockily at the groaning peers around him who sit jealous of the fact he has a best friend like San to save him.
