♣Newt's POV♣

Tommy told me that today he was going to tell Minho and Teresa after school-- that he is gay I mean, and I can't help but feel relieved that he's finally doing it and being who he wants to be. And I even more relieved that he wants me there when he does it.

After school I find him waiting for me with Minho and Teresa at the gates, I still think she doesn't like me very much...

"Hey," I say smiling.

"Hi," He says smiling. "So, my place right?"

"Yeah," We all mumble in reply.

Walking to Tommy's I see his hands shaking.

"You okay?" I whisper.

"Just... Just I-I d-d-don't know if I can do this," He says, his voice shaking.

I freeze causing Minho and Teresa look back.

"It's fine, carry on, the door should be open anyway, I just, I just need to talk too Newt a sec," Thomas says.

"Okay.." Minho says walking ahead but Teresa stay's.

"You sure?" She says making eye contact was Thomas.

"Yeah, I'm good, go," He says.

She gives a small nod and leaves and my eyes fall back on Tommy.

There's a short awkward silence before Tommy speaks.

"What if this doesn't plan out how I want it too, what if they hate me," Tommy says making eye contact with me, eyes watering. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, trying to stop himself from crying.

"Let me get one thing straight," I say looking him in the eyes and putting my hand on his face so he opens his eyes and looks at me. "If they can't accept you for who you are, then they can fuck off,"

"Thanks Newt,"

I give him a small nod in reply.

"Promise you won't leave me, no matter what happens," He says worryingly.

"Promise," I say holding up my pinkie with a smile. Our pinkies lock and I feel his breathing calm.

"Okay. Let's do this then..." He says walking towards his house.

When we get there Minho and Teresa are waiting there awkwardly.

"Okay... So I called you all here today to hell you something important, erg—" He starts

"You didn't get anyone pregnant did you? What do you think rubbers are for man, god," Minho says.

"No. I didn't get anyone pregnant Min," He says holding back a laugh.

"Well thank god for that, we don't want any mini Thomas' running around,"

"Right, so what I wanted to tell you was, I erg, I just," He says panicking.

"It's okay," I mouth to him.

He takes a deep breath and looks them both right in the eyes.

"I'm gay,"

Silence.

Tommy starts to awkwardly play with my hands and I prepare myself to get up. To help him. To defend him. To do something. But Teresa speaks up.

"Really?" She says.

"Err, Yeah," He coughs out.

"Well, err, good for you I guess? I mean how did you expect us to react, you're our best friend, Tom... Do you really think we would care whether you like girls or boys or neither for that matter?" Teresa says and Minho nods in agreement.
