After lunch, Harry, Ron, Ginny, Hermione and I were all outside trying to fly on Harry's broomstick. I was actually quite good at it. Ginny fell off but she was alright. When it was near dinner time, we all walked back the Gryffindor tower, and I went to the girl's dormitories and got changed.
I walked back into the Gryffindor common room and sat on the couch beside Hermione. She showed me a new spell book that she had borrowed out of the library. It was quite interesting. We decided to put the book away and practice some spells on a pear that Hermione had kept after eating her lunch.
"You can't destroy it right away." Hermione said to me.
It was almost like we were playing a game with the fruit.
"You have to do some spells on it, but you can't damage it too much."
"Alright." I giggled back.
I took my wand out and pointed it at the pear on the table in front of me.
"Engorgio!" I yelled, half-giggling.
The pear enlarged right in front of us. Hermione laughed and pointed her wand at it too.
"Maybe we should shrink it back before someone sees a giant pear on the table, Hannah."
"No! I like the pear when it's this size!" I whined back.
Hermione rolled her eyes.
"Fine. Expelliarmus!" She yelled.
I ducked as the pear flew above my head and landed on the couch on the other side of the long room. I slowly got back up to my feet, looking a bit scared, but still smiling. At that moment, Ginny walked into the room.
"Hey guys, I was just-what's that giant pear doing on the couch?" She asked, pointing at it.
Hermione and I burst into laughter.
"Don't ask." I said between giggles.
"It's dinner time now, do you want to go back down to the Great Hall?" Ginny asked, turning away from the giant pear and back to us.
"Sure." I said, putting my wand back into my pocket.
"Oh wait." I stopped Hermione and Ginny, turning back to the fruit on the couch, taking my wand out and pointing.
"Reduco." I said to it, and the pear shrank back to its normal size.
"Now we can go." I smiled, and we all made our way to the Great Hall.
We met Harry and Ron at the corridor and we all went to the Great Hall and took our seats. I saw some seventh year Hufflepuff students walk past, which reminded me of Cedric all of a sudden. I felt my throat ache as I held back tears. I restricted myself from looking at anything that made me cry because I knew I would if I remembered Cedric again. Even thinking of Cedric's name made my eyes brim with tears.
I looked away from my friends and wiped my tears. I sighed and turned back, resting my head on my hand and staring at the table top. I looked up to see Hermione and Ginny chatting with Ron, and Harry staring at the table top too, looking just as sad as I am. Him and I were the ones that actually saw Cedric die right in front of us. I was the one that was beside him while he died. I tried to hold back my tears again. I saw a Hufflepuff seventh year laughing and having a good time. That did it. I felt a tear roll down my cheek. I quickly wiped it away, hoping none of my friends noticed.
Suddenly, all the chattering stopped and everyone got to their seats. I looked up at the staff table and saw that Dumbledore was up the front.
"Good evening to you all." He said. "Now I know that the past 5 days or so have been thoroughly disappointing for everybody. Especially because we lost someone very dear to our school- Cedric Diggory."
