Hermione and I got our trunks ready for the next morning. We'd gotten up extra early so we had time to say goodbye to everyone. I got changed into my Hogwarts robes (even though we were leaving soon). We headed into the common room without saying anything. We were both a bit upset that we are leaving today. I saw Ginny there, sitting on a couch and staring at her feet blankly, looking extremely bored. She saw Hermione and I come in a small smile brightened up her face, but she still looked a little miserable.

"Hey." I smiled, sitting next to her.

Hermione sat on the other side.

"Is everything OK? What's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing." Ginny mumbled back. "I just don't really want to go home right now...after all the brilliant stuff that has happened this year."

I felt a bit upset when she said that.

"I know how you feel. I have more to worry about too." I muttered.

Hermione and Ginny looked at me curiously.

"Like what, Hannah?" Hermione asked me, her eyebrows raised.

"What?" I said, looking back at them. "No, it's nothing. Don't worry about me. I'm just going to miss Draco. And Harry's returning to hell." I trailed off.

That was mostly why I was upset to leave. Harry walked in and sat opposite us in the other chair reading his book Flying with the Canons which I had given back to him when I gave him back his invisibility cloak the day I got out of hospital. I smiled at Harry and he smiled back at me. He guessed he was probably feeling the same sadness as everyone else, especially because he has to go to the worst place in the world.

At that moment, Seamus and Ron opened the portrait hole and climbed into the common room. They must have woken up really early. Both were smiling and talking happily. Maybe not all of us were feeling that miserable today.

"Oh hey Harry, Hannah, Dumbledore wants to see you." Seamus told us as he walked into the boys' dormitory and Ron sat down on the ground in front of the fire.

Harry and I looked at each other in confusion. Were we in trouble? We didn't do anything! What did we do wrong? Harry and I walked out of the portrait hole and towards Dumbledore's office. We were both feeling a bit worried. If the headmaster of our school wanted to speak to us, it must be something big.

Harry and I walked up to the door of his office. Harry knocked nervously, none of us talking or making any other sounds. The door of his office opened by itself and nobody was inside. We walked in slowly with confusion and a little bit of fear. I looked around the room and saw the huge bookshelves and the big portraits of the previous head masters and headmistresses. Then my face lit up when I saw Fawkes, Dumbledore's pet Phoenix. Harry had told me about him, and I'd always wanted to meet a Phoenix because I've never spoken to one before. I ran up to Fawkes with a big smile on my face, my eyes shining.

"Hello." I said softly, stroking his beautiful gold and red feathers. "I'm Hannah."

"Hello." Fawkes replied.

He seemed to be smiling. Harry was watching, about 6 footsteps behind me, raising one of his eyebrows as if he didn't know what was going on.

"Harry's told me all about how brave and awesome you are." I giggled to the bird who flapped his wings joyfully.

"You both are very brave. And you're very gifted too." Fawkes said to me.

"Ah." Dumbledore's cheery voice came, making me and Harry both jump and look up.
