"You are late young man." His grandfather spoke as he saw Zhan entering the house.

Zhan just smiled and greeted his grandpa and ignored the rest.

"Zhan are you not going to greet us?" His mother spoke.

"Have you forgotten the basic manners as well?" his father added.

Zhan sighed as he greeted everyone else, his brother said, "must be hard being the CEO right?"

Zhan smiled and said, "oh no, its quiet fun, if you think that it's too hard then good for you that you are not the CEO. After all, using braincells would be hard for you since you don't really have a brain."

Zach was pissed as he said, "well, I think that his still better than being a heartless monster who would let his own brother die despite knowing that he could have been saved, at least I am not selfish like you Zhan."

Zhan was enraged and his uncle spoke, "poor Zane, it would be so nice if he would be here today."

His aunt spoke, "he was a good child, always kind and polite to everyone despite being in so much he was never selfish and was so selfless, unlike his brother, if only Zhan you were not so selfish, Zane would be here today."

The mood of the house became rather quiet and no one said anything else, Zhan was enraged, he clenched his fist to stop himself from shaking with anger he looked down, as he felt the piercing stares of all these people. They were looking at him with hate, scorn and disdain, it was very obvious to him these all of these people would have preferred Zhan to be here rather than him.

Zhan was not new to this feeling of being unwanted and undesired.

Zhan sighed as he got up and looked at them, he saw the triumphant smile on Zach's face, he didn't say anything after that, because there was no use of that, these people are always going to play the dead brother card on him perhaps till the end of his life.

And they were not really wrong, Zhan was selfish.

"Let's get this over with."

"So, Zhan what are your plan for marriage?" his grandfather asked.

"Right now, none." Zhan spoke, "I don't have any plans for marriage."

"You should get married soon and have an heir."

"I don't need to get married to have an heir; I can always go for surrogacy."

"This new generation and their ideas are really something else."

Zach spoke, "if you want then I can introduce you to some people Zhan. You should come with me to the parties."

Zhan smiled, "no need, the last time I went to a party with you, I hated it."

"That was back in the college, besides that day you just disappeared after a while, where the hell did you go?"

Zhan sighed, "I hated it so I left early."

"Parties are a good place to socialize Zhan." His father, "you should attend them often."

They talked about for a while, and Zhan focused on his food, he didn't really care about what anyone else was saying.

He just wanted to get out of here as soon as he can.

It seemed like hours had passed as the excruciating time with his 'family' had finally come to an end.

And he finally got to leave, as he was walking towards his car, he heard someone call his name, "Zhan."

Zhan paused as he turned back and saw his mother, "are you leaving?"

"No, I am going to camp in the garden." He replied sarcastically.

"Can't you answer me correctly?"

"What do you want mother?"

"Now that you are back in the city, I want you to come home often to meet us, I and your father, we miss you. You left after your brother died and then you came back for just one year for your college and left again immediately without telling anyone."

"I came back, because grandfather sounded weak and I thought he would die, he wanted me back, so I came back and did the last year of college from here, and even this time I am back because I thought he was sick and might be on his deathbed.

There is no other reason for me to come back and mom stop pretending." Zhan spoke, "I know you wanted me dead and wanted Zane to be here in my place, I know seeing my face hurts you and you don't want to see me, you just want to taunt me."

"It's not like that, I am your mother, I may have been harsh on you in the past but that does not mean that I do not care about you. We both do."

Zhan laughed, "nice joke mom, I would have believed you in the past, but not now, never. It's too late."

He said as he opened his car and sat inside before he drove away.
