Chapter 20.

Zhan got a fracture.

Nobody really talked to him once he was brought to the hospital. And he preferred it that way, Yibo's betrayal had broken him. For once in his life, he thought that he could trust someone.

For once, he thought that there was someone who cared for him, but Yibo was only his friend because of his money, he didn't care for him, Zhan was fooled again moreover he also brought his parents to the motel! Thinking about all of this made him want to just die.

His grandmother was probably the only one in the entire world who loved him the most, and he lost the one thing that belonged to her. He was totally useless.

Zhan reminisced about all the good memories with Yibo and all the moments that they had shared, he was perhaps the only one who had made him happy and genuinely smile in these past few months.

And now he is the reason why he is stuck here at the hospital.

Tears leaked from his eyes as he thought about everything.

Suddenly the door opened and his brother came inside the room. He was walking slowly and was in a hospital gown, recently, his health had got worse.

He became sick often, with fevers, infections, and weak immunity. But Zhan didn't even want to look at him.

"I heard that you were sick, are you alright now?" he asked timidly.

Zhan laughed, "How can I be okay when you are alive!"

Zane flinched when he heard Zhan talk to him in such a harsh tone. Zane spoke, "I am sorry, if I disturbed you, but I was just worried about you, I just wanted to come and check up on you."

Zhan laughed, "What a joke! You know these injuries; this pain is nothing! The biggest inconvenience in my life is your existence!"

"Why are you saying that?"

"Why am I saying that? That's because ever since I was little, I was forced to donate my blood! No matter what day it was, whether it was my birthday, a festival, or whatever I was expected to drop everything as soon as you got sick!

Everything revolved around you! You are important and I am not; your birthday is important and mine is not it is often forgotten or I might just get your leftovers; your special day is special; mine are not, you are special; I am just a blood bank.

You get all the love and attention, and all I get is hate and cruelty! When I am happy, when I ask for something, when I express a desire to do something, I am selfish, while you are an angel.

I am sick and tired of living like this! I can't go out of the city to study because you need me; I can't go out of the city for fun because of you; I have donated so much blood, and now they even want my kidney!

You are no better than a leech! Just when are you going to stop? When I die?"

Zane looked like someone had poured a bucket of cold water at him, "I... I didn't know you were forced, I... thought it was willingly..."

"Because you are an idiot! Fuck off! You are the last person I want to see. Go!"

Zane flinched before he exited the room.

After that, Zhan was left alone for a long time, He felt at peace, but that didn't last long. As soon  his mother barged into the house, angry tears running down her face, she came close to him and slapped him, "What the fuck did you say to my son!"

Zhan glared at her, "the truth. That's all."

His mother cried, "Because of you, because of you he is refusing treatment! He will die, don't you get that!"

"Good for him; he will be free from this miserable existence."

His mother cried as she collapsed on the ground. "He is your brother; don't you have a little bit of sympathy or pity for him?"

Zhan just looked at her with cold eyes; he felt relieved and satisfied when he saw her like that. "No. I feel nothing towards him."

It was nighttime when Zhan felt uneasy, he suddenly woke up from his sleep and was covered with sweat as he took deep breaths.

He sat up on the bed and clutched his chest. He felt anxious for some reason, so he took a deep breath and grabbed his clutches before he decided to get some fresh air.

He slowly got down from the bed and decided to go for a walk. He passed by his brother's room, and suddenly a cold breeze hit him. He shivered before he peeked inside his brother's room.

For some reason, he felt the need to walk inside Zane's room, and there he found his brother lying on the bed peacefully. Zhan looked at him before he sighed.

However, suddenly he felt something was wrong. He quickly kept his hand on Zane's neck and found no pulse.

He kept his head on his chest and heard nothing.

Zane wasn't breathing.

"DOCTOR! DOCTOR!" he yelled, and soon the doctors rushed to the room. Zhan moved back and let the doctors check up on Zane.

Zhan stayed for some time before the doctors pronounced Zane dead, and the cause of death was an overdose of sleeping pills.

It was suicide.

Author's note: Dayum, the amount of suffering is heavy, isn't it?

But now that we know that both of them are not stable and come from a very toxic and damaging environment, of course, they are going to have issues. After all, it's hard to stay sane after what they have been through and the world doesn't make it easier.
