A month passed and the hot summer weather started slowly cooling down. Tang Shushui was also finally allowed out of the house and started dabbling here and there in his businesses. His restaurant was doing good and had a steady stream of customers. As for his boutique the clothes, shoes, and pieces of jewelry were all ready to go, all he needed was a way to promote his opening.
After thinking about it for a while, he thought the best way was a fashion show. After weighing the pros and cons, he realized that this boutique should aim to be a luxury boutique. His restaurant though it was prosperous, was not really doing that good financially. All the money to build the house, buy the provisions, pay his employees, and buy provisions, and even the money to open the boutique all came from the revenue of the restaurant.
He didn't realize so until Li Shiqing told him that he was almost in the red. It was now that his restaurant was recovering, so he did not have the money to buy other materials for a lower-priced brand, plus the nobles wouldn't appreciate seeing what they wear also be worn by commoners, so the best option was to focus on the nobles first and then open another boutique for the middle class and commoners.
To start out he invited noble people or some standing that were close to him. Madam Ye, Bai Feng Ju, and Xia-Tung Mei have already agreed to come and sit at the show, so even if it didn't blow up like crazy it would still be a guaranteed success.
The models we trained already but only about twenty were actually ready to walk for his show. The rest were not yet fully trained. So the amount of dresses and accessories he could actually showcase would be limited, but the biggest crisis of all was setting the runway show.
He was a designer in his past life and had worked to make small runway projects in his major, but the school was prestigious and this was taken care of for him, He knew the simple layout, but he needed something that couldn't easily be copied, something that could grab attention, something that showed why he deserved to be a respected luxury brand.
When he heard his thoughts, Tang Shushui was a bit surprised with himself. He had always thought that he was satisfied with having enough to eat and having a loving family, but it seems like that was not the case. His dreams, and passions had been pushed to the back of his mind for a while, and he had forgotten who he truly was, and what he wanted to achieve. But maybe because his family had always been truly attentive he's been slowly forgetting about does dreadful days of being an assassin, and becoming more and more bright as time goes by.
Today he decided to go to the restaurant to see how things are operating. Jiang Yanwei was a little worried but did want to confine his wife at home, so he agreed to watch the child while his wife went to the restaurant. As soon as he got there he saw the workers were all circling the blushing Tong Donghai.
"What's going on? Is there good news?" Tang Shushui asked.
The enthusiastic workers immediately circled their boss and eagerly told him the news, "Yes, Tong Donghai is getting engaged! He just told us!"
"Is that why Fu Suyin has been walking around like a cooked shrimp, stumbling on his words?" Tang Shushui teased causing a wave of laughter.
"Boss!" Tong Donghai reproached, clearly embarrassed. He didn't expect to fall in love so quickly but he did, so he decided to get engaged. Fu Suying worked for his boss and was just so cute so they were moving on fast.
"Okay, then when are you getting married?" Tang Shushui stopped teasing and asked.
"We're thinking three to four years from now," Tong Donghai responded shyly.
"Okay, then congratulations," Tang Shushui said.
"Thank you, boss," Tong Donghai answered.
As Tang Shushui was walking out he suddenly turned back and looked at Tong Donghai with a sparkling look. The workers knew that this look meant that their boss had a new idea, and truly Tang Shushui did.
"Tong Donghai do you mind helping my restaurant even more popular?" Tang Shushui asked but it didn't really look like he was asking.
"B-boss?" Tong Donghai was confused, how could he be of help with that sort of thing?
"Your engagement, let me hold in engagement part for you here at the restaurant to promote people booking and celebrating my restaurant for the event," Tang Shushsui explained, enlightening his workers. It seems like their boss was still so smart.
"Sure!" Tong Donghai had no disagreements. Not only would he get a free engagement party but their restaurant would be more popular which means their bonuses and pay may get higher, either way, this situation was a win-win.
"Okay!" Tang Shushui agreed happily, "Liu Shiqing, Xie Lie, Ju Ai, and Feng Daiyu please follow me we need to discuss some things. The rest get to work," (If you don't remember who these are go look at chapters Positions & Madam Ye)
"Yes boss," The workers responded.
Arriving a the storage room now turned office Tang Shushui sat down and started talking to them about his plan.
"Ju Ai and Feng Daiyu have been doing well in advertising the restaurant but the ones in training will take over for now as I will need you for something else," Tang Shushui started. "I realized that I was too impulsive when I was starting this restaurant and now I am having more losses than profit. Now that I am about to open my boutique I will need even more money but not only that I realize I need a space for people who are not cooks and servers to stay and work for example my advertiser, designers, and seamstresses," Tang Shushui stressed at this point he didn't know what to do. He knew he could make the money he lost back but how would he pay his employees during all of this?
"Boss though you lost a lot of money you still have enough to smoothly open your boutique with no problems, but you can't act as impulsive as before. Mao Xueqin (For reference ch Mao Xueqin) has been working hard and her designs and embroidery though not as innovative as you can still be on par and stand out in its own ways. The training for the boutique employees has been going well, what you need to focus on is your noble friends." Li Shiqing reported and advised.
"Noble friends?" Tang Shushui was a little confused, he did invite his noble friends though. When Li Shiqing saw that look on his face she couldn't help but sigh. Her boss was truly a strange one, at times he could be the smartest person, yet at times he could be the dumbest, especially when it comes to planning. He mostly does things on impulse.
"Yes, you noble friends. You can't just invite them, sit down with them and confirm who will be there and who will be not. Those who confirmed it will be used to advertise the shop. Offer them benefits in your boutique that you wouldn't offer to other people to secure their presence. The key to this boutique opening is not the money, it's the nobles," Li Shiqing analyzed shrewdly shocking those around including Tang Shushui. Tang Shushui couldn't help but appreciate Li Shiqing. If it weren't for her right now, they would probably be in deep debt, yet she was cleaning after his impulsive messes without a word of complaint.
"I obtained the schedule of Madam Ye, she will be going to a tea party two days from now with her son. Her ger son clearly adores you so few words will be enough for you to go. Plus, her family will be coming to see her during the Qingshi Festival, they adore Madam Ye very much so a guarantee that she will come means a guarantee that they will come, and if they come, then well, your show is considered a success," Xie Lie added on. He was a middle-aged ger who was hired as assistant manager, and he was very good at gathering information. Tang Shushui once again was left speechless, his staff had grown so much in a span of six months.
"Boss these are the illustrations for the show. We alighted the theme with luxury and the Qingshi festival as to attract more people. Take a look to see what you like," Ju Ai came forward with Feng Daiyu and handed over the drafts. At this point, Tang Shushui realized that he was the one behind with planning and his staff had it all figured out. So the who day he stayed in the office planning the show.
