"As I said before I was waiting to give the gift to the bride after the ceremony but since you all insisted, here's the gift I bought for the bride." Said Tang Shushui the gentle smile on his face never wavering.
Tang Shushui looked at all the villager's confused expressions and laughed, inside of his head of course. They may be confused but he wasn't. At first, he wanted to put poison in the gift he was going to give Song Shi, but when he walked around town and saw this beautiful hairpin, another idea came up. He would leave the poisoning for later.
Pride is Song Shi's strength but also his biggest weakness. Song Shi literally forced his parent to work like dogs just so he could move from the village to town, it shows how much pride he had, he then proceeded to marry a scholar just because he was not satisfied with his rise of rank, he was not afraid to be shameless and was not afraid to humiliate Tang Shushui, So when Tang Shushui came with such an expensive gift something that he would have to work years for to get, crushed his pride and ego.
Tang Shushui also did this on his wedding day and knowing how prideful Song Shi is, he will have to keep the fake smile on his face for the rest of the wedding, though people didn't notice the wedding is already ruined. Another reason is that Song Shi will want to wear it but will not because of his pride, but he will also not throw it away to protect his reputation. The hairpin will toy with his mind and will be a reminder that he, Tang Shushui, is better than Song Shi. This is also an indirect hit to Wan Tian who left Tang Shushui, who is now able to buy an exquisitely made silver hairpin, for the prideful and lazy Song Shi. This one hairpin will serve them as a reminder that Tang Shushui won.
"Thank you, Tang Shushui that was very thoughtful on your part," Said song Shi with a forced smile on his face as he took the hairpin, his hands clenched the hairpin so hard that his knuckles were now white.
"No problem it didn't cost that much," Responded Tang Shushui with a nonchalant tone with an even bigger smile than before.
At this point, the Tangs were unable to speak, especially Feng Fan and the old lady. They were waiting for this day to humiliate the Jiangs, but they were the ones who were humiliated instead. Tang Shushui buying the silver hairpin was an indirect slap to the Tang's face because when they kicked Tang Shushui and his mother out they told them they were useless and that they were unable to make money and for Tang Shushui to able to buy such a beautiful hairpin is a direct slap to their face, and some of them just couldn't take it lying down.
"Did you steal the hairpin, you wench?" Old lady Tang screeched.
"Grandma! Brother would never do that. Brother has a food business remember." Tang Chang An said to remind everybody that Tang Shushui was selling food, and would be unable to buy such expensive things, and it works since everyone was now looking at Tang Shushui in disgust.
"Watch your mouth old lady Tang you might just go to prison for defamation." Tang Shushui responded with a smile.
"You- you dare threaten me?!" The old lady questioned.
"I'm not threatening you, I'm defending myself. Tell me why should I stay here and let you tarnish my reputation? I don't like to brag but have you ever gone to town to see how popular my food is? I make about fifteen silvers or more a day, so why in the world would I have to steal to buy a silver hairpin? I will take legal action if you continue defaming me old lady I don't play when it comes to my reputation." Tang Shushi responded with yet another gentle smile.
The villagers were stunned by the amount of money Tang Shushui stated and ignored the defaming thing. 'He made fifteen silvers a day?! And he's been working for three weeks? That means he made about three-hundred and twenty silvers already!' thought the villagers.
Old lady Tang was unable to act for a moment. How could she?! Those were the people she basically sold off and now they were living a better life than her? She couldn't let this happen! She to find a way to get money from them! But before she even say something she heard Tang Shushui announcing his leave.
"I came here to congratulate the bride and the groom but all I got was defamation and rudeness, I'm pregnant and I do not want my emotions to be unstable so I will be going home." Tang Shushui announced respectfully leaving no room for discussion.
That was another bomb, nobody knew he was pregnant since the original owner never announced it. Wan Tian and his family looked especially uncomfortable after hearing the news but Tand Shushui didn't spare them another glace and made way to the gates.
After the family got to the inn everybody got ready to go to bed since it was already night, and everyone was tired, the couple made their way to their room, after saying good night to the others.
"Are you feeling tired? Is the pregnancy wearing you out?"Jiang Yanwei asked very concernedly.
'Hmm? It must be because of what I said earlier' Thought Tang Shushui.
"No I'm fine I just said to escape from the drama over there." Responded Tang Shushui with a gentle voice.
"Ok, I was just worried." Jiang Yanwie responded with a sigh of relief.
"You're always worried huh?"Teased Tang Shushui as he tiptoed to peck his husband's lips.
"You would be too if you had such a beautiful wife."Jiang Yanwei teased back as he held Tang Shushui by the waist.
"Such a sweet mouth." Repled Tang Shushui with a chuckle.
"Yours is sweeter." Jiang Yanwei responded in a low voice.
"I didn't mean that you pervert!" Tang Shushui hissed, embarrassed.
"Yes, yes my little wife, this husband is indeed at fault," Replied Jiang Yanwei in a fake apologetic tone.
"You've gotten more brazen these days." Retorted Tand Shushui.
"It's because my wife is too cute."Retaliated Jiang Yanwei as he swept Tang Shushui from behind his knee and carry him to bed.
After the teasing session, the couple went to sleep as today was a very tiring day, and with Tang Shushui pregnant he was always sleepy, so he immediately fell asleep after being put to bed.
The hairpin Tang Shushui gave Song Shi^^^
