"What's going on?" I ask.
"I think it's my fault we're here, see... When you told me to go back to the woman I didn't exactly do that, or well I did, but not the alive one. I found a computer and looked around. First of all the owners of the house were Rosie and Scarlett March, sisters. Scarlet was 68, Rosie 66. The one we talked to was the youngest one. Now, they aren't helpless victims, as we might have thought. Actually they were part of this just as much as the Boss and the old man are. I found everything, Riley. I know everything about the secret organization"
"Wait, slow down, secret what?"
"I know, I was just as shocked as you are. At first I thought they were like a cult because of the symbols we found, but I was wrong. See, you were right about the police. Killings like these happen all the time, with the people that want to send proofs to the authorities, the symbols are just so that the police know where to not do anything."
"And those old ladies were a part of this organization?"
"Yeah, well not now. They've been retired for 7 years, about the time when they moved here."
"So what do they do?"
"They import drugs from the Middle East and spread them in the United States, they've been doing it for a long time too. They have to make sure certain types of drugs aren't legalized, so they hire teenagers to sell dangerous shit like heroin cut with an amount of Fentanyl that would kill a horse."
"You're saying they purposely give overdoses to kids?!"
"Yes." He sounds terrified and kind of excited at the same time.
"So how come it's your fault we're here?"
"Well, I know everything so they brought us here to decide what to do. If they kill us the diner will be under investigation"
"Can't they just use the symbol to keep the police away?"
"It's too risky".
I stop and contemplate, I'm confused and so many questions are flowing through my mind.
"But I don't get it, why give me the piece of paper and get me involved then?"
"Well that's because you've already been involved in their business..."
"What? When?" Oh, shit.
