My gaze remains steadfast on Mommy, who hasn't moved since she sat there 3 hours ago.

Her blinks are slow and no amount of noise from the twins or Jalana has made her budge.

She remains sitting still, hands tucked between her slightly shaking legs, head straight forward, eyelids slowing blinking, with her chest rising and falling slowly.

"Where's Jamari?" Aunty Ana's words pull my attention from studying Mommy.

With a shrug, our eyes meet, hers filled with unshed tears.

"Mommy is coming to get the kids ready for school. Please to help her, you and Jari. If possible try to see if you can come home early enough to pick them up after extra lessons." Staring at her, I shake my head relaxing in the chair.

"Mi nah leff yahso until mi know him good." Ignoring me, she takes a half-asleep Jalana from my arms and softly shakes Jari awake.

"Do you want to go to school?"

Jari looks away from Aunty and to me as if waiting for me to make her decision.

Shaking my head, she turns back to Aunty Ana voicing her answer.

"No"

Aunty Ana hands me Jalana and steps away wiping her tears.

We haven't heard a thing since we came here last night.

They strolled Dad in on a gurney and disappeared with him behind the double doors. Since then we have moved back and forth between the cars and the seats lining the tents outside the hospital.

Tears and sweat stain our shirts as we wallow in our sadness and anxiety.

"Mommy" Jari tries once again.

"She nah guh answer Azeon"

"We caah mek she go back to that state Mal. We know how it feels fi she close off from us, they don't know her that way. Give her Lana please" She pleads.
