The saying "You're not depressed you just need a hairdo or nails" is deeply felt by me right now.
It's been two days of blissful serenity and while my heart pangs a little whenever I think of Zoey's chubby cheeks not latching on or her heavy breathing when she is impatient to feed. I've been loving the minute taste of freedom.
Toniann slides the chair back over to the desk, bottles of varying colours of nail polish spilling from her grasp.
They land on the glass top the sound of glass clinking against glass ringing throughout the quiet space.
She had managed to squeeze me into her busy schedule. So here I am at the ass crack of the early rising sun to get another luxury service done.
"Yuh fi lucky yuh pretty ennuh." I bat my lashes at her compliment, extending my frail hand for her to take. "Cause mi no normally work on big holidays. Mi body just as tired as the office people them." She jokes and Shyla giggles.
I relax sluggishly in the chair, my mind wandering to my mini-me. It's been about 33 hours since I have seen her chubby cheeks in person or had a whiff of that addicting baby smell.
"Shorter than this?" Toiann asks and I pull my hand away observing the length she's at now.
I nod after much debating and try to return to the comfort that I had with my bad posture.
Toniann quirks an eyebrow at the length and I sigh. "A little bit shorter. I know I know, I never go this short but I don't want to scrape my baby." She hums and uses the drill, sanding away some more length and removing the edges.
Shyla's light hums provide a sense of security and relaxation. Bringing an end to the relentlessness that I've been carrying with me since last night.
It was my hardest night yet not even the night she was taken was as hard.
My phone pings and I skillfully use my unoccupied hand to open the cell. I move to Maleek's chat, rolling my eyes.
