A smile sits shyly and wide on my face as my eyes fixate on the growing figure of Keneil taking his own sweet time to get over the hill and down to me.

He stops in front of me. "When I called what did you say?"

A laugh leaves me at the tilt of his head, rolling my eyes. I hand him one of the bags.

"I told you I was in a taxi, I was Sir. The taxi man just did a drive like seh a Dover Raceway the ole dawg deh" His eyebrows rise at my outburst.

"You would understand where I'm coming from if you were in there Ken, The man swing we from one corner to the next, swear at one point we did aguh ova the damn gully." Laughter fills between us and I stop hating the way my head is pounding.

"Yuh still nuh eat nothing before you left this morning after I told you to" I pretend to not hear his words and pick up my pace, swinging the lighter bag in the direction of the blowing wind.

The headaches were expected they weren't stemming from me not eating they were from the stress of having to carry, a big ass bag on my back and three others with things for Grandma from Aunty.

The journey was a treacherous one, but I was beginning to love Clarendon. Aside from how early I had to wake to get to school which was a con; there were too many pros and one of the major ones was walking beside me.

"All now yuh no answer me bout whether or not you ate." Coming up to my gate, I lie nodding.

I had no appetite early this morning, all I craved was getting my butt here in the cold fresh breeze of the country.

Life here was easy going, I had hardly anyone to answer to as Grandma only cared about me eating, my school work being done and me inside her house by 9.

She gave me free rein to do as I pleased, much different from how she was when I was younger.

I open the gate pushing it far back to allow for Keneil to enter.

"Neil—one boy a you that" At Grandma's loud greeting I roll my eyes.

She has a habit of loudly greeting everyone. Once she saw you she had to make the entire lane know that she did.

"Morning Miss Thelma," She smiles, opening the grill and stepping to the side so that he's able to set the heavy bag on the veranda.

"Thank you" Her hand covers his sliding away as he forms his hand into a fist.
