"I have no recollection of that happening" My head darts in Daddy's direction, eyes widening in disbelief at the words that just spilled from his lips.
A this we a duh todeh, day yah?
"Really?" Jari pulls to the edge of the couch, her head tilted down.
She chuckles and stands from the couch, taking a seat on the carpeted floor.
Dr Cane quickly slides herself in between Mommy and Jari.
Mommy chuckles, sliding her hand over her chapped lips.
"It didn't happen!" Mommy shouts towards Jari.
I clamp my eyes shut, resting my head on my folded arms that are sunk deep into the arm of the chair.
Dr Cane tries her best to get Mommy to calm down.
She hisses breathing so heavily that I'm able to hear it above the soft soothing music playing in the room as a form of comfort.
Jari had requested it to help with recalling a lot of the memories she had suppressed.
"Dr. Cane" Mommy calls pulling all of our attention.
Lifting my head, I settled my eyes on her raggedy figure. Her face is puffy; eyes wide and red.
Her once impressively ironed dress is now crushed.
She slides her buttocks to the complete edge of the couch resting her elbows on her knees. She sighs and starts pleading her case.
She clasps her hands. "It didn't happen, Jamarion wouldn't have hesitated to leave me if had happened. It's all fabricated in their minds. I've always felt their hatred for me and it's completely justified but I wasn't that bad for my kids to try and end their lives and I continued on that path. My husband their dad wouldn't have had it." By the end of her rant, she's both distraught and out of breath.
I sit unable to move trying to process her words, running over the memories embedded in my mind.
"It was a Wednesday evening. You hate Wednesdays." Jari speaks up. "Daddy had left for a house fire in Constant Springs. You were on the pills like usual I don't think you were mourning the baby as much. You got into it will Maleek over something simple I can't remember then you turned your anger unto me."
