Twenty Seven

Six months passed as Beatrice sat next to Simon in the car as they drove back from the latest doctor's appointment.
She placed her hand on her large stomach before looking at Simon.
"We'll be home soon," he said.
She smiled and nodded before looking out of the window at the field next to her.
She just wanted to get out of the car.
Her entire body hurt and she was exhausted from not getting much sleep the night before.
Plus she was getting tired of the constant doctor's appointments.
They always said the same things and she just had to smile and nod while screaming inside.
The last six months had been the same things over and over again.
After she started getting more pain she spent most of her days on the couch or in bed.
She had stopped doing everything that made her day go quickly causing her to just want this whole thing to be over so she could go back to her life with a baby.
They pulled up to the house.
Simon helped her out before she walked to the door.
She opened the door before freezing as about ten or fifteen women and Ste all appeared out of thin air.
"Suprise!!!!!" they all said.
She looked at them all before walking upstairs.
She didn't care nor did she want to.
"Bunny" Brendan said.
She just kept walking before sitting on the rocking chair in the nursery.
Cheryl and Ste walked into the room.
"Come on.
We're all here for you" Ste said.
"I'm in a lot of pain Ste.
Just enjoy whatever party you're throwing while I talk to baby in this very uncomfortable chair" Beatrice said.
Cheryl pulled her up.
"It's your baby shower," Cheryl said before dragging her back downstairs.
"I found her," Cheryl said.
She walked into the living room before slowly sitting on the couch.
Ste sat next to her.
"Just pretend to have fun," he said.
She looked at him as Simon sat next to her.
"Did you know about this?" she asked.
"No," Simon said.
"Neither of us knew bunny," Brendan said.
Cheryl then gave her a big box.
"Cheryl" Beatrice whined
"Suck it up," Cheryl said.
"Piss off," Beatrice said.
She then groaned before opening the box to see a stroller.
"We already have this," Beatrice said.
"But this one is better.
It was Brendan's" Cheryl said.
"Next one.
Just keep it rolling" she said.
She opened another box and saw a kettle.
"A kettle.
Oh wow, the baby will really love this" Beatrice said with sarcasm lacing her words.
She opened each gift before looking at everyone.
"Don't tell me there's more?" she said.
"There is.
This one's from me" Ste said as he gave her a small box.
She opened it before feeling everything annoying about this go away.
It was a necklace, one of the most beautiful necklaces she had ever seen.
"Ste.
It's gorgeous" she said.
"I saw it on my way here and couldn't stop myself," he said.
She smiled at him before looking at the necklace.
"Trying to swoop in," Brendan said.
"No just wanted to see her smile" Ste said.
"Mission accomplished.
Everyone can leave but Ste.
Do you want to stay for a drink?
I'll have water but you can help yourself to the bar" she said.
"I would but I kinda left the deli to come here.
After you've had the baby we can celebrate" he said.
"Ok.
Now everyone go.
I'm fucking exhausted" she said.
"There's more planned," Cheryl said.
"Cheryl, please.
Let's just don't and say we did" Beatrice said.
"Fine.
Come on ladies lets all go find a pub" Cheryl said
Beatrice watched them all leave before looking at Ste.
"I'll see you soon ok," he said.
"Yeah," she said before watching him leave.
"Well done," Brendan said.
"I'm just glad it's over.
We won't even need any of this stuff" she said.
"We can give it to charity," Brendan said.
"Ok.
Yeah let's do that" she said.
Simon placed his hand on her stomach.
"How's the baby?" Simon asked.
"Kicking," she said.
She placed her hand on his before placing her head on his shoulder.
"I'll get everything out of the house," Brendan said.
"Thank you," Beatrice said before kissing Simon.
She then looked at her stomach before looking at Simon.
"I can believe this will all be over an a week or two" she said.
"I thought you would be happy.
You've been miserable for most of this" he said.
"I know it's just the feeling of having a part of you right there.
There right there" she said.
"Well maybe when this one is old enough we all could try for a second" he said.
"Maybe" she said before kissing him softly.
This was all she needed.
She didn't need people crowding her.
It was overwhelming.
