An hour passed as Brendan and Simon sat at the table as Beatrice slept on the couch.
"You know why this happened.
We both do" Simon said.
"What's her name?" Brendan asked.
"Tracy," Simon said.
"She killed Beatrice's bother and thought that she could get an opening.
She almost did" Brendan said.
"The only way to keep her safe is to hurry up the move," Simon said.
"I can call the owner and get the keys early.
After that, we pack while she's asleep and then carry her to the car.
I don't need her fighting us right now.
Seeing her in a state of shock almost fucking killed me" Brendan said.
"You're not the slightest bit proud of her?
That guy was pure muscle" Simon said.
"I am.
I just never want to see her with blood covering her again.
Self-defence or not.
That's our job, not hers" Brendan said.
"Hopefully when we finally get out of this place our demons won't follow us" Simon said.
"I'm going back home.
There's no escape for me" Brendan said.
"I'll start packing," Simon said.
"Just grab the basics.
Most of the things in this house can rot inside this place for all I care" Brendan said.
Simon walked away before grabbing a heavy wool blanket.
He put it over Beatrice before walking upstairs.
Brendan took his phone before calling the owner of the house.
There was no more putting it off.
They had to move before Tracy sent more trained killers after Beatrice.

Forty minutes passed as Brendan and Simon finished putting the bags in the car as Beatrice laid on the couch still knocked out.
"That's the last one," Simon said.
"Now we need to decide who's driving," Brendan said.
"You can.
You know where the house is.
I'll get Beatrice and then we can go" Simon said.
Simon walked into the house before slowly lifting Beatrice off the couch.
He walked back to the car before laying her on the back seats with her blanket and a pillow from the bed.
"She's going to think she's been kidnapped when she wakes up," Simon said.
"She'll get over it," Brendan said before they both got in the car.
"We'll be on the road for a while.
We'll do most of the house and then rest at a hotel before getting back on the road.
We can go straight through the border into Northern Ireland so it should be straightforward forward" Brendan said.
"We'll need to stop once she wakes up.
We both know she will want to know why she's in the car and why she didn't know before this" Simon said.
"Yeah.
My plan is only a blueprint.
It won't go to plan at some point" Brendan said before starting the car.
Finally, they were getting a new start.
A new life in a new town.
No nightclubs, no vengeful widows and no revenge fantasies.
