Twenty Six

The next day Beatrice sat in bed as she watched TV.
She had to check up on the animals but didn't want to leave the bed.
She bit her lip as the show she was watching started to get interesting before hearing Brendan walk into the room.
"Tired?" he asked as he sat next to her.
"No im just really comfortable.
I wish I could stay in this bed forever but the animals need feeding" she said.
"I can do that," he said.
"You hate animals," she said.
"One time won't hurt.
I'll just give them all buckets and go back in" he said.
"I can do it," she said.
He looked at her.
"You can't throw a bucket at them and hope for the best," she said.
He scoffed.
"It's the truth, Bren," she said.
"Whatever you say, Bunny," he said.
She looked at him before kissing him.
"Remind me to teach you the animal's care routines," she said.
"Why?" Brendan asked.
"Because when I get to a certain point during my pregnancy I won't be able to do much.
It would be helpful if you knew how to do the simple jobs I do" she said.
He wrapped his arms around her before kissing her temple.
"I know," he said against her temple.
She smiled before placing her hand on his arm.
Suddenly her phone rang.
She grabbed it before answering it.
"Hi Cheryl," she said as she put the call on speaker.
'Congratulations!!!
I can't believe you're expecting.
I have it all planned out.
Next week instead of coffee we can go baby shopping' Cheryl said.
"About that.
I can't.
Doctors appointment" Beatrice said.
'You just had one' Cheryl said.
"This one is to see how far along I am.
I just got the text now" Beatrice said.
'Is Brendan free?' Cheryl asked.
"No.
Me and Simon are going with her" Brendan said.
'Oh for Jesus' sake' Cheryl said.
"You'll be fine without seeing me for a week," Beatrice said.
'Yeah.
It's just this is so exciting.
Brendan's already done this once but this time it's different' Cheryl said.
"Because it's my first?" Beatrice asked.
'There going to be a Brady-Walker.
That will start a new generation in the family.
Another branch' Cheryl said.
"I thought you didn't like Simon," Beatrice said.
'I didn't before and im still keeping an eye on him' Cheryl said.
"Cheryl," Beatrice said.
'I know what you're going to say and I don't want to hear it.
He tried to kill Brendan and Ste.
If he didn't meet you maybe he would have hurt a lot more people' Cheryl said.
"He's not like that anymore," Beatrice said.
'He's dangerous' Cheryl said.
Beatrice hung up before tossing her phone down the bed.
"If she knew what I've done.
What I've been through she would be saying that about me as well" Beatrice said.
"We're all bad people," she said before walking out of the room.
"Bunny" Brendan said.
"I'm going to feed the animals," she said.
She walked to the farm before taking a deep breath.
She knew what Simon did.
She knew he wasn't a good person but she struggled to see that part of him.
To her, he was good.
He cared and her and was always there for her.
He was the one she had the most in common with and she knew that wasn't completely a good thing but she loved that when they talked it was natural and lasted forever.
Beatrice knew in some way Cheryl was right but it still bothered her.
She was in Ireland to start fresh and she didn't want to hear about who he was before because who he was now was a completely different person.
She always knew that she would die for Cheryl but would kill for Simon and Brendan.
She would become a bad person, a criminal to help them if needed and that would never go away.
