After a long day of travelling between the different villages and homes of everyone's, Scar had finally dropped off everyone at their respective houses. He was now heading back to his own house in the desert, travelling with Grian, a person he still hadn't learned to be comfortable around. The two of them were still awkward with each other and yet to develop a better relationship. Suddenly and without warning, Grian finally decided to break the awkward silence between them and speak. "Hey Scar, I wanted to say I'm sorry for just walking in your room and just-" Scar quickly jumped in and said "No! No! It's fine whatever makes you comfortable! I don't mind!" He smiled widely and that made Grian blush with his kindness and caring way of responding to the situation. Scar suddenly stopped walking and turned to face Grian, noticing that the man's face was red and blushing. It was obvious that Grian was embarrassed and flushed with the warmth of the moment. Scar asked with a genuine curiosity, "Are you okay? Your face is red." The direct comment and the way Scar put his hands on Grian's face made the man blush even more. Grian quickly took Scar's hands off his face, now embarrassed and red in the cheeks, his mind spinning with a mix of thoughts. He tried to recover the situation and be more at ease but it was hard because his face still felt burning hot. "Yeah yeah, I'm okay," he replied back but it sounded like an unconvincing answer. Grian then put his hands on Scar's and held them tightly but softly, almost like a way to calm himself down and to try to soothe his emotions. "If you're not feeling well you can always tell me!" Scar smiled and tried to make the situation less awkward by continuing to be friendly and kind in a natural way. The two of them began walking again, still holding hands, with Grian feeling a bit overwhelmed by the situation and also unaware of the fact that his hand was still being held.
Grian began thinking about all the things that he felt, questions that seemed to have no answer. He felt flustered and confused, and yet when he looked at Scar there were also feelings of comfort and warmth. Scar noticed a certain tension and awkwardness about the way Grian's mind was working, so he asked with curiosity, "Grian? You okay?" It was almost like he could sense what Grian was thinking, and he asked that one simple question with a look of concern. Grian looked up and realised where they were, as they were back at Scar's house now, a place that was familiar to both of them. Grian replied to Scar, his tone still being a little shaky and nervous but he was trying to hold himself together. "Yeah yeah I'm fine. I'm just thinking about something, that's all!" It was clearly not true, but he wasn't ready to get into a more detailed discussion about it or explain what was causing him to feel this way in the first place. Scar could see the discomfort and uneasiness in Grian's expression and body language and the way he was behaving, and he hated the fact that he couldn't do anything to help. He was trying to find a way to ease the tension between them and to lift Grian's spirits, so he suggested. "Okay then, how about I go make some dinner for us? That way it could make you feel better, what do you think?" he asked, hoping that his suggestion would work and that Grian would feel more at ease by being taken care of. "Yes please," Grian responded to the suggestion and then Scar smiled and walked over to the kitchen to prepare dinner. Even though his mind kept wondering about what was causing this sudden discomfort between them, and even though he was trying to figure it out so that he could do something to help, he also knew that feeding Grian would make him feel better and help him to relax.
Scar continued trying to engage in a conversation with Grian, hoping that this would help break the tension and ease him into a more relaxed state of mind. "Hey, Grian?" he asked curiously. Grian turned his attention to Scar and replied positively with a quick "Yeah?" Scar took this as a positive response and continued, "You know you can tell me anything right? I won't judge!" He was hoping that his open-ended invitation of sharing and support would be accepted by Grian, and that he would indeed share his thoughts and feelings. Grian thought about Scar's invitation to share anything and also thought about his own feelings. Although he knew something was happening inside of him and inside of his head, but he didn't quite understand what it was yet. He didn't know how he felt about Scar at this point but he was worried about the potential of that awkwardness and weirdness. In the end, he decided to remain silent and not reveal anything for the time being, afraid that it would indeed make things even more awkward if he disclosed what he was thinking and feeling about Scar. Scar came back to the living room area, sat down next to Grian and asked, "Grian?" The latter then responded with a bit of confusion, "Oh, sorry, I'm just really lost with something." Scar, noticing the distance and disconnect between them right now, asked with genuine curiosity and concern. "Oh, would you mind telling me about it?" he wondered if maybe sharing this unknown feeling would make Grian feel better. "I'm just feeling things that I'm not used to," Grian explained with a lot of confusion and concern. He was trying to make sense of the unknown and fuzzy feeling that he was experiencing right now, and it was making him feel very uneasy. He continued, "Something weird and fuzzy. I...I just don't know what's wrong with me?" with a slight tone of desperation in his voice. He felt as if something was really wrong inside his mind but he couldn't pinpoint what it was. Scar noticed the intense reaction that Grian had when they had that little staring moment and without a second thought, he wrapped his arms tightly around him and hugged him close. Then, Grian froze. The intense rush of warmth and butterflies in his stomach made him feel sick and dizzy. His heart was pounding so fiercely and he couldn't take this feeling anymore. It was overwhelming and intense and it was making all his worries and confusion about his feelings feel even more real. "Sc-Scar?" Grian slowly and nervously asked, as the intense blush on his face grew. He was feeling such an intense rush of emotions right now and it was completely overwhelming him. Scar quickly realized what was going on. He had acted on a pure instinct and immediately regretted his actions, now hoping that Grian would be able to forget about this completely. But his hopes were shattered when he heard a knock on the door. Scar swiftly walked away from Grian and went to open the door, expecting it to be someone else.
