going through the pain,
we tend to think what's the gain?
it just hurts all over,
every muscle aches - both upper and lower.
and yet we're told it's natural,
yes, it is.
then why trapped in our rooms are we?
why the tag of impurity during those days is all people want us to see.

yes, we need to rest and stay away from chores,
but that's taken a twisted narrative due to the false narratives and lores.
neither are we dirty, nor the process a sin;
then why aren't we offered a comforting grin?
instead we've received shameful sighs,
when trying to talk about the issues we've seen people bid the topic goodbye.

we're faced with pain which we can neither explain nor replicate,
then why do people call us dramatic when this isn't written in their fate?
how do you stop people who don't understand the discomfort,
the people who call you sensitive that tends to hurt.

it's weird how after so many years the taboo still persists,
while the reality has faded away into mists.
this isn't anything to be ashamed of,
this shouldn't be a fear to make people sob.
it should be normally discussed to let people know,
that it's something that makes us uncomfortable and feel low.
everyone should know what's the reason,
so that people don't come up with new logic every other season.
it isn't just a girl problem,
it's a transition we need to make from explaining her to them.
them including men who don't go through it,
but they need to be educated about every last little bit.
because it's our duty to educate them,
and it starts in the present - from the roots within and not just the stem.
