Harry watched in anticipation as the midwife waved her wand over Ginny's stomach, which, if you looked closely, had a slight bump. Magical ultrasounds were relatively new and were a bit different than muggle ones. Unlike muggle ultrasounds, you wouldn't receive a picture, but if done correctly, it would reveal the gender of the baby.
"How have you been feeling, Ginny?" Eliza asked. "Any morning sickness?"
Eliza Jackson was a slightly older witch. She was in her early sixties and was the midwife who assisted Ginny during her last three pregnancies.
"Terrible." Ginny muttered. "There are days I can't seem to keep anything down."
Eliza gave her a sympathetic smile. "Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot I can do about that other than suggest you drink plenty of fluids. The morning sickness should pass soon."
Ginny groaned. "Not soon enough. Besides, this isn't even the worst of it. Before long, I'm going to look like the giant squid. Then I'm going to have to go through labor, which I am not looking forward to."
"I'm sure you aren't, but, as you know, the end result is worth it."
"I know." Ginny said with a small smile. "I am looking forward to the newborn stage again. Lily is getting so big. She's already walking. And then there's Al, who doesn't like to cuddle as much as he used to. Don't even get me started on James. He's growing like a weed. He's already outgrowing the robes we bought a few months ago."
"They do grow fast." Eliza agreed. "Well, I am happy to say that things are looking great. The babies appear to be in perfect health. It looks like you should be due towards the end of March."
Harry couldn't keep the grin off his face as he helped his wife sit up. The babies were healthy. The babies were due in March. The babies...wait, what?
"Did you say babies?" Ginny asked, speaking the question that was on Harry's mind.
"I did." Eliza confirmed. "Congratulations. You are having twins."
Harry's face split into the biggest smile, but Ginny looked worried. "Are you sure?" She asked. "I mean, there's no way you could be wrong."
"You are definitely having twins." Eliza chuckled. "I'm afraid I can't tell the genders just yet, seeing as the babies aren't in the right position. Hopefully next time they will be a bit more cooperative for us."
Harry was on cloud nine. He couldn't believe they were having twins. When he and Ginny first discussed children, they both agreed they wanted three, maybe four. Now they were getting ready to welcome babies four and five, and they had Grace, who had recently joined the family as well. Growing up as an only child was lonely. He didn't want that for his children. He wanted them to have each other as they grew up. Still, he never imagined having a family nearly as large as Molly and Arthur's. He had to admit, though, that it was nice.
"Thank you!" He said, pulling the older witch into a hug. After knowing the woman for several years, she had become more than just Ginny's midwife. She was a friend.
After Eliza left, Ginny flopped back on her and Harry's bed and groaned. "Twins? Merlin, that puts us at two fewer kids than my parents. One less if we count Grace."
Harry chuckled. "Well, I can't say it's too much of a surprise. I mean, your mum had twins, and she has twin brothers as well. It must run in the family."
"I know, but...Merlin. What are we going to do?" Tears welled up in her eyes. "I mean, we're in the middle of a war, Harry. Life is already so messed up right now. We're living at Grimmauld Place. The children are barely able to get outside. People are dying. First your relatives, and now Hermione's parents. I can't help but wonder who's next."
