A month had passed since the big fight, and Sirius hadn't seen or heard from his godson since. Order meetings had temporarily come to a stop, meaning he had no real reason to stop by Grimmauld Place, and although Harry knew where he and Corinne lived, he never stopped by. The only information Sirius had as to how Harry was doing came from James and Remus, who he sometimes met up with at the Three Broomsticks, but even that wasn't often enough. If Sirius was being honest, he felt terrible about how he had acted. He knew his godson had every right to be cautious, especially when it came to his family, but Sirius also trusted Corinne. He knew it was crazy; he barely even knew the woman. But after years of being alone, first in Azkaban and then on the run, it felt nice to be close to someone. He had been denied love for so long, and now that he had it, he didn't want to give it up. But although Sirius loved being with Corinne, he found himself missing his family. He missed Harry and their late-night talks when neither one of them could sleep. He missed the children, who always had a way of cheering him up when life felt hopeless. He missed James and Remus, whom he had just begun to get used to seeing every day. He missed Tonks and her upbeat personality; Lily and her kind words; and Ginny and her sense of humor. He even missed Ron and Hermione, despite their bickering. Sirius never thought he would enjoy living at Grimmauld Place, but the people he loved and cared about made it not only bearable but enjoyable.
Living with Corinne was the complete opposite of living at Grimmauld Place. It wasn't terrible, and Sirius enjoyed her company, but after months of being part of a family, he felt lonely. Especially on the evenings that Corinne would disappear, oftentimes not returning until late. She told Sirius she was going to see a friend, and Sirius assumed she meant Fleur. He never questioned it because he himself would leave to meet up with friends. Tonight was one of those nights, which was why Sirius currently found himself waiting at the Three Brokmsticks.
"Sirius!"
Sirius was brought out of his thoughts by James's voice. Looking up, he saw his two friends making their way towards the table. James took the seat on Sirius's left, while Remus took the seat across from them.
"Firewhisky?" Sirius offered, pushing a glass towards James and one towards Remus. They both accepted the drinks. After a moment of silence, Sirius asked, "So, how is everyone?" It was the same question he asked every time they met up.
James took a sip of his drink and sighed. "Lily is driving me insane."
Remus snorted. "She could say the same about you, I'm sure."
It was a common occurrence for the two of them to get on each other's nerves. They loved each other, but they were complete opposites, and sometimes that caused them to bicker. Watching Ron and Hermione often reminded Sirius of James and Lily. Their bickering rarely turned into full-blown arguments, but it was enough to drive anyone listening insane.
"Really?" Sirius asked with a smirk. "On a scale of one to when she was pregnant with Harry..."
"Worse." James muttered. "She insists she can do everything on her own and won't let me help in any way, yet when I don't offer to help, she claims I don't do anything. Like the other day, she complained when I tried to help her up, but then she complained because she saw Harry giving Ginny a foot massage, and I don't do anything like that for her."
"I thought Lily hated people touching her feet." Sirius frowned. "Didn't you try that when she was pregnant with Harry?"
"Exactly! See, that's what I told Lily. But then she got emotional and said it would've been nice for me to at least offer. And now, apparently, my son is more of a gentleman than I am."
