-I know it has been a long wait, and I hate it too. So much has happened lately that it has taken away a lot of my free time. It would take an entire chapter to explain everything, so I won't bother. I am definitely still working on this story, and even though my update schedule has pretty much been obliterated now, I'm still doing my best to get back to it.
I appreciate everyone's patience and kind words. You all are the reason I've stayed dedicated to this series for all these years, and while it isn't as popular as it used to be in the beginning, it's still more than I ever dreamed of. I'm lucky to have the opportunity to share my ideas with so many people. Thank you for everything.
Now, without further ado, enjoy the next chapter!

"At most, roughly three nights." A dark dragon with glowing scales loomed before me, its form foggy and dull.
My head moved on its own to look down at a fuzzy orb resting between clenching paws that didn't look like mine. "Fine. I-I guess that works..."
What was happening? Who were these dragons?
My vision flickered into darkness.
"We have seen the powers of life and death..."
I flinched as the voices grew in numbers, wishing I could look around to see where I was.
"Aurora!"
"I love you..."
A rumbling chuckle shook my very being. "Very well, my bold little vessel, you have yourself a deal..."
"And know our fates to be true..."
"I won't lose you again!"
"Don't do this!"
"What took you so long?! Where is she?! Why don't you have her?!"
"Aurora! Wake up!"
I strained to move, anything to get out of this dark place, but I was frozen.
"You can't stay here, Aurora! It will tear ya apart!"
Finally, light filled the darkness, but my relief was replaced with fear. Fire. Purple fire everywhere. Burning. Scalding. Melting. Tormenting!
"But with your last breath..." Despite the blistering heat, an ice-cold chill rushed through me. No, no! What did it mean?! What was happening?!
"Let her go! She isn't yours!"
"WE WILL BE GODS—"
An ear-piercing screech ripped through the air. "Aurora, WAKE UP!"
The world rushed back to me as a scream erupted from my throat, leaping to my paws and wildly looking about with my lungs burning for air. I was back in the familiar dark cave, the beam of blue light streaming down on a chained figure, and a tiny dragon locked in a cage. My body ached fiercely, similar to how I imagined being beaten would feel, albeit without all the blood or physical wounds.
"Finally!" Anari groaned. "You won't believe how hard it was to cut off the connection!"
I panted, heart racing, and eyes darting back and forth between Caligo and Anari. "Wh... What...?"
