-For those that don't know, this week will have two chapters released. The first is on my birthday, and the second is on Christmas. So, here's the first chapter, which I got to later in the day than planned, but I got it done at least!
Now, without further ado, enjoy!

Anari was full of information. With my lack of knowledge about basically anything not involving killing, I had endless questions for her. I took the most interest in mates and family in general, considering that seemed to be the stuff the Aurora in my dreams valued most. Anari carefully dodged many of those questions, claiming it might accidentally recover more memories.
I understood why Anari worried about me 'remembering myself,' but it was still frustrating. I wanted to know more about Myrkr, Vaskr, Stormfly, Auroon, and whoever else I was supposed to remember. It sucked being denied answers.
A force I now knew was called 'wind' billowed against me, carrying colder air, but I wasn't in the mood to complain. I sat neatly a step or so away from the edge of a 'cliff' covered in 'grass' overlooking the dark ocean. Spots of darkness drifted over the waves from the 'clouds' intermittently blocking the 'moon.' Caligo wandered the trees somewhere behind me to stay out of the moonlight, and Anari was 'hunting' for food, leaving me alone with my thoughts. The world was a lot quieter than I expected... and big. Very big. The ocean seemed to go on forever and ever...
Not unlike my questions. Unfortunately, I couldn't seem to get the answers I wanted. It left me feeling aimless, not to mention discouraged. It wasn't fair that I had to stay in the dark.
A dark form emitting a familiar energy stepped up beside me. "Hey," Caligo grunted, settling down without prompting. "You're upset again, aren't you?"
I glanced up at the moon, seeing a large cloud covering it, then dropped my stare to my paws. "Sorry," I muttered. Caligo had already shown her distaste for my 'mortal problems.'
Caligo merely sighed. "I suppose you creatures cannot help such weak feelings," she spoke neutrally. "This is about your old life again, isn't it?"
"It doesn't matter," I dismissed with a slight shake of my head. "I'm not allowed to know—"
"Shut up," she interrupted with a rude snort. "I may not be experienced in emotions, but even I can see that your past upsets you. I wasn't really asking, mortal, so just spit it out."
I gave the malicious shadow a side-eye, my frustration rising to the surface. "Why do you care? You can't do anything about it, and I don't want to hear more reasons why I'm forbidden from knowing from a caustic ass like you!"
I couldn't see Caligo's face, but the two red specks that marked her eyes almost seemed to show shock before they flicked down to the ground. "Okay, that was... the wrong way to say it," she mumbled, much to my surprise. "Look, uh, I'm not very good at this, but I'm trying, so just bear with me."
I turned my head to stare at the avatar incredulously. "What are you doing?"
"You mortals like communication, right?" She warbled. "Being... 'nice,' and stuff. I'm trying to figure that out. It feels stupid, but it's apparently important..." She trailed off at my disgusted expression. Was Caligo seriously still trying to 'blend in?' Why did she want to associate with any of the weak dragons out here? "Shut up. I'm doing what I must to survive."
"Whatever," I growled, returning to the dark ocean with a huff. "Do whatever you want. I won't play nice with those weaklings; I only want to see what this 'family' nonsense is all about."
