"So, uhm— is there a reason for what just happened in there?"
The question was bound to be asked at some point, but Eddie didn't realize Richie would get straight to the point. They hadn't even taken off their backpacks yet.
Eddie swung his bag off and tossed it aside as he slumped in front of one of the bathroom stalls.
Richie could see it on Eddie's face; he was clearly upset still, and definitely not in the mood for explaining anything. He also knew that if he and Eddie were gonna work, then they'd need to at least talk a little bit about it-- whatever 'it' may be.
The taller boy sat himself down beside Eddie, just as the late bell rang. Eddie's head shot up, but Richie insisted he stayed; talked things out. Calmed himself.
"So, do you wanna talk about it?" Richie asked, a little nervousness slipping through his voice.
Eddie just sighed, brought his knees up to his chest, hugged them, and buried his face in the fabric of his pants. "Honestly...no." he admitted.
Richie felt his shoulders slump because, for just a second, he felt somewhat defeated. That is, until Eddie lifted his head up and made eye contact with him- "But, I know you won't shut up about it until I tell you so.."
Eddie trailed off with a small smile, just managing to conjure that up with the little confidence he had left in him. Richie smiled, his small tooth gap showing as he did so. Eddie took note of how he hardly ever noticed that tooth gap-- as much as Richie smiles.
"You know me too well, Eddie-baby."
Eddie felt his face flash a small tint of pink before he turned his head away slightly. He took another deep breath before allowing himself to spill his guts.
"I met Brady a while ago...before you and I met, officially. He and I got like really close, but I didn't know...I didn't think-- I didn't want to think, that I liked boys. We tried dating in secret for a short period of time but it didn't really work out."
Richie found himself growing more curious. More questions arose in the back of his mind, but he chose to save them as he felt they may be answered soon.
"Obviously, it didn't work out- for one - since I didn't even know if I liked boys, really. I got so scared of what people may think of me that I hid myself. Closeted myself. So, I just wanted to end it before it hardly began."
Eddie traced the laces on his shoes for a second, silent, before he took another deep breath. "It also didn't work out because Brady wasn't the best first boyfriend-experience."
