Arunachal Pradesh, often known as the 'Land of Dawn-lit-Mountains,' is India's most distant state and the first Indian land to greet the morning light. This beautiful land, located on the northeastern tip of India and bordering China, Bhutan, and Burma (Myanmar), is endowed with a dazzling array of flora and fauna that is sure to entice any tourist.

But there is a horde of supernatural and haunted sites that can creep your soul and make your blood run cold. The bungalow of the Former CM of the state is one of them! The official bungalow of the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh was recently converted into a state guest home due to worries that it was inhabited by bad spirits.

According to the Eastern Sentinel, the Chief Minister's bungalow was known for its "bad vibes" and "supernatural activities" days after former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Kalikho Pul allegedly committed suicide and was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in one of the bungalow's many bedrooms.

Only two months later, a member of the bungalow's staff was discovered hanging from the ceiling of an adjacent room.

Dorjee Khandu and Jarbom Gamlin, two former chief ministers who had lived there, died tragically young. Apparently, some staff claimed to have experienced "paranormal activity" in the cottage, such as noises and alarms going off. All of this fueled rumours that the bungalow was haunted by demonic spirits. In an apparent attempt to dispel public notion that Kalikho Pul's bungalow was "haunted," the Arunachal Pradesh government renovated it into a guest house. State Minister for Urban Development Nabam Rebia and Chief Secretary Shakuntala D Gamlin formally opened the guest home. During the opening ceremony, a number of local priests and monks performed religious ceremonies, offering prayers and blessings in each room to ward against "evil forces." This multi-crore home, situated on a hilltop, was infamously dubbed "haunted" after Kalikho Pul's murder.

In August of last year, the former chief minister committed himself, followed by the death in October of another staff member stationed at the same home. Both deaths sparked rumours that the premises had been taken over by "evil powers."

"Since the tragic demise of former CM Kalikho Pul, we decided that before legally seizing this location, holy leaders from all religions should perform a Suddhi ritual. Hopefully, this will turn this into a fortunate location "Shakuntala D Gamlin, the Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh, spoke to the reporters following the ceremony on Friday.

The rites were performed, according to Minister Nabam Rebia, to dispel public fear of the bungalow. The bungalow will be used as a training centre for civil officials in addition to being a guest house. During the tenure of former Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, construction on the state chief minister's bungalow began in 2007-08 and was finished in a year at a cost of Rs 59.55 crore.

The bungalow still stands! Its time for a visit don't you think so?
