Sometimes when I was bored and had nothing on my mind, I briefly pondered on the topic of being a sociopath.
It wasn't like I wanted to kill anyone necessarily, or that I felt a deep hatred for one specific person.
But I couldn't label the feeling of just not giving any fucks.
Right now for example. "Do you have anything to say for yourself?" Principal Hickens sits across from me, the chair he's sat in identical to my own.
My chin lazily rests on the palm of my hand, propped up by my elbow that sits on his desktop with zero etiquette for a private school. "Of course I do." He quirks a brow as a signal for me to continue.
My index finger lightly scratches my freckled cheek as I think on what exactly I was going to say. It wasn't like I needed to explain myself, considering I wasn't in the wrong.
But he clearly didn't view it in that context.
I naw on my bottom lip for a second. "Do you want me to start from the beginning or..?" I trail off, quirking a brow.
He looks unamused as he sits back in his chair. "Alexandra." His gruff, warning tone, makes the corners of my lips curve up a bit.
Not the best approach, got it.
I raise my hands in defence. "End it is, got it." His glare hardens further, resulting in my next attempted observation. "It was merely a misunderstanding between me, and the two other students. A misunderstanding I'm not stupid enough to indulge in ever again."
We share a look at tells us both that not only does he know I'm full of shit, but that I know that he knows. "Are you done yet?" He snapped.
Was this finally my chance too stab the pencil into his carotid artery?
Cause I feel like it is.
He rubs his forehead, irritated. "You attacked that poor girl." He sighs. "And broke that boys nose!"
My nose crinkled with distaste at the lie. "And who told you that? The girl who has lied about numerous things on multiple occasions?" He wages his hand around, dismissing the hypothetical question.
"You were in the wrong, and you need to admit it!" Principal Hickens exclaimed.
My lips part as I muster the words. "Uh- I did?" He gives me a look that makes my eyes roll. "It was a trip in my conscious. I'm bettering my future self." I venture on, my voice becoming breathy as I try to sound sincere.
