* Warning about Gore.*
Wei Wuxian was almost to Qishan when he started to play his flute with a chilling tune. He made sure every fierce corpse under the Wen's control turned on the soldiers around them. Civilians who watched the cloud of resentment rushed to the temples for safety. They believed a demon was coming to Qishan to destroy them. They thought the only way for them to survive was to ask the gods for clemency.
Wen sect members were horrified when he raised the same soldiers he killed under his control. At his command, they headed into the city to attack other soldiers while always trying to avoid civilians. Though Wei Wuxian was confident that Xuanyu fulfilled his task of removing anyone he would regret killing. In other words, the civilians remaining were corrupt and therefore expendable. He would just rather not murder civilians with his powers.
The Ghost General used his chains to keep arrows away from Wei Wuxian. Not that he needed it being immortal and all. Plus the resentment itself protected Wei Wuxian like a child protecting its mother. He had pulled soldiers that got too close to Wei Wuxian underground. He apologized every time he was forced to use his chains on the humans. Still, he had promised Wei Wuxian he would be his sword and he would not break his promise. It was a terrifying view for the Wen soldiers from the main castle in Qishan. A man with crimson eyes floating on a cloud of resentment over a tall pale man with killer chains coming their way. Spikes of resentment rise from the ground to skewer their soldiers before disappearing. Nothing they did seemed to slow them down.
Wen Xu had been torturing his new prisoners when a lady in red appeared in front of them erecting a barrier. No matter what he tried he couldn't get through whatever barrier that lady in red set up. Inside the barrier, she had unchained Lan Wangji and looked him over for injuries. He had a few bruises on his face where Wen Xu had punched him for (in his words) 'taking his brother from the Wen sect'. His leg was broken so that he couldn't get away.
The red lady had arrived in time to stop them from melting his core. Lan Wangji just stared at the beautiful woman in red knowing who sent her. He was hoping to be wrong and that his very pregnant husband wasn't rushing over to save him. He didn't want his husband anywhere near danger. Especially since he knew Wei Wuxian rushing over was the whole point of capturing Lan Wangji. He was meant to be bait so they could get their hands on Wei Wuxian.
An irate Wen Xu called for Wen Zhuliu to try and break the barrier with his ability. The barrier was sturdy enough that it flung the man at the opposite wall. Wen Chao growled, about to give his opinion when a pale shaking soldier entered the room. He bowed to Wen Xu swiftly before speaking. "Sir we have a huge problem heading our way." Wen Xu didn't seem worried he thought very little of his men. "What? Did the enemy forces decide to make a move against us finally?" His voice was mocking while he rolled his eyes at the scared soldier who shook his head in fear. "No sir, I don't think so. There is a very pregnant man raising the dead while flying over here in a giant cloud of resentment. Chains skewering anything or anyone that gets too close."
The ghost woman smirked smugly. Lan Wangji tried to get up to make sure Wei Wuxian stayed away but was pushed back down by the ghost. "No, no loverboy, you have had your chance to fight in this war and you got caught. Like some damsel in distress. Now it is my master's turn to fight. So sit pretty and wait for your husband to save you." Lan Wangji blanched knowing there was nothing he could do until the ghost lady felt like freeing him. He was also feeling a bit humiliated at the way he was described. There was nothing he could do when the ghost woman was looking at him like a misbehaving toddler. He understood the ghost was not happy that Wei Wuxian had to rush into danger after him.
