Warm rays of sunlight filtered gently through the window of the infirmary awakening Wei Wuxian. Panic surged through him thinking he had passed out while fighting their enemy. It took a minute for the memories of checking on the disciples to come back to him. His eyes softened as he noticed Lan Wangji asleep by his bed holding his hand. Carefully he got himself out of his husband's grasp hoping to let the man sleep.

He headed out to tell a disciple to summon all senior disciples to the front of his office in the Gentian house. It hardly took time for the disciples to gather. They all wanted to see that their Madam was safe with their own eyes. Once everyone was gathered he asked about what work had been done while he rested. Lan Kai briefed him on how they had been repairing the damage that had been done to the areas outside the barriers. He also mentioned how they had managed to get the dead collected and buried. The plan was to clean the blood off the pathway and begin bringing the civilians and omegas back to their homes.

Wei Wuxian nodded, happy so much had gotten done in such little time. He told them to leave that work for the juniors. He had a more important job for all of them to do. At that moment the head healer came over yelling his name in outrage. Behind the irate healer was an upset Lan Wangji and an amused Quingheng-Jun. The Lans tried to hide their giggles at the trouble their Madam was in.

Wei Wuxian raised his hands in automatic defense. "I rested and I'm just talking. I promise I will rest more, plus I feel fine. I'm just making sure the more important things get done." Many Lan disciples laughed behind their sleeves at their stubborn Madam. The head healer's eyes flashed promising to fill Wei Wuxian full of needles any second. " You have ten minutes. If you are not done by then I will knock you out with my needles mid-speech." Wei Wuxian pouted trying to use his big puppy eyes on the healer. It backfired tremendously as the healer took out a fist full of needles while raising a challenging brow.

He saluted nervously before turning back to the disciples quickly. He spoke as fast as was physically possible while being clear with his commands. "I need you guys to separate into groups of threes and check on the villages under our protection. We need to make sure the Wen didn't take out their anger on them while retreating. If they need help with a night hunt do it. Unless the hunt exceeds your capabilities. If that is the case report it to us immediately so a more suited team is sent out no need to risk your lives if you are uncertain. Just because we were attacked doesn't mean the ghosts took a day off.

The Lan Sect is still under scrutiny so we need to keep our lands running as if nothing happened. If they need help rebuilding because the Wen attacked them do what you can. Make sure to come back by tomorrow so we can know which towns need the help and what they need. No matter how helpful you are it would be better to send people with the skills they require. We help the people even though we are cultivators and not masons or artisans. I want an omega in each group. If it is needed because there aren't enough senior omegas take a junior. I want that omega to use their scent to reassure the leaders that we are there to help. Also-... wait wait Lan Zhan I wasn't done."

Lan Wangji had grabbed Wei Wuxian bridal style at the healer's command. They were walking back to the infirmary slowly to Wei Wuxian's aggravation. The seniors laughed at the fate of their Madam. Their head healer's temperament was well-known in the sect. Lan Wangji just looked at him expressionlessly. "Father can handle it." He continued walking with a complaining Wei Wuxian. He shut up quickly when the healer showed his needles again.

Wei Wuxian made sure to stay quiet until he was settled back in the infirmary bed pouting. Lan Wangji sat on the bed beside him not looking at his husband. Normally he would have given in but the healer had been Lan Wangji's healer as a child. The healer was not afraid of Lan Wangji. In other words, if he gave Wei Wuxian what he wanted both would end up immobilized by needles. He would not condemn himself to that fate over the whim of his clueless husband.
