Wei Wuxian woke up feeling warm and rested which put him on high alert immediately. He had too much work to do to rest more than an hour or two a night.  Warmth was something that had alluded him since he had become a god of the underworld. It was an unfortunate side effect of working so close to death. The coldness just clings to every pore in his body. Its cold embrace trying constantly to drag him into a peaceful slumber. It refuses to release its grip on anyone who gets too close. Death was truly a lonely thing most of the time he could relate.

He slowly expanded his senses wanting to feel his surroundings before giving away that he was awake. Last he knew he had been walking to the library then nothing. "Could I have been kidnapped?..... Fuck!" That would be embarrassing. He would never be able to look at any of the gods in the eye ever again. What kind of immortal got kidnapped from their own home?

Focusing on his surroundings he could tell a few things. He was lying on a comfortable bed (good). He was under a very warm blanket, probably with a heating talisman (also good). He was being gently held in strong arms by someone with a soothing sandalwood scent (go-.........NOT GOOD!!!) His eyes sprung open making sure not to move any other muscle in his panic.

He was met with a beautiful familiar face lying by his side.... his husband's face. It took Wei Wuxian a few minutes to calm down from his mind exploding. His husband was sharing his bed and was holding him it was an overwhelming concept. It felt like he was cared for. He was trying hard to get his body to not auto-combust. Lan Wangji was too close, making it hard to think straight. "L-L-Lan Z-Zhan, Lan Zhan what is happening? Please wake up I'm so confused." His voice whispered hysterically trying to not let anyone except Lan Wangji hear him.

Sleepy golden eyes opened, slowly taking in the sight of an awake blushing Wei Wuxian. The golden eyes seemed to study Wei Wuxian's startled face for a few seconds before Lan Wangji spoke in a groggy voice. "Glad Wei Ying is awake. I was worried. Is the reason you are working so hard because of some vision of the future you saw? If it is, please tell me so I can help you. It is my duty as a good husband to help." Wei Wuxian seemed about to argue until he heard the last line before sighing in defeat. He snuggled closer to Lan Wangji so he could hide his face in the man's chest. He couldn't very well argue with his husband wanting to do his part though it was necessary.

Plus, his husband was willing to hold him like this for now. He would take what he could get for as long as he could. "Yeah, you are right Lan Zhan. As my husband, you have a right to know what's on my mind. In a month my father will give up all leadership of the sect to my half-brother Wen Xu. No one knows about this yet. It is still a concept in my father's head for the moment. He will fight with the Wen Sect council. Choosing to give away leadership rather than follow their plans. Two months after Wen Xu becomes Sect leader Cloud Recesses will burn as a show of power. If we are not prepared father-in-law will die trying to save the younger disciples. The library and everyone in this sect will be no more than ash in the wind. Other sects won't do anything about this until the Jiang sect is also burned to the ground. The Nie is attacked as well, but they manage to overcome that attack. As you can tell there will be war beloved. The Jin will refuse to get involved apart from a small group led by Jin Zixuan and your brother."

Lan Wangji tightened his hold on Wei Wuxian's waist as the man spoke of what was to come. If visions worked as the name implied his husband had witnessed the carnage in his head helpless to shift anything. "What happens to Jin Guanyao's gift of peace?" He felt Wei Wuxian's body stiffen and almost cursed himself for the abrupt question. What partner would want to be asked about their husband's last partner?

For his part, Wei Wuxian was upset at himself for forgetting that Lan Wangji wasn't his. To Lan Wangji their marriage was just a contract. His heart cracked a little more. "Wei Ying, I just want to know why he didn't step in to stop the war." Wei Wuxian relaxed slightly out of his downward spiral. He smiled brightly hiding the pain in his heart at the reminder of the Jin snake that owned Lan Wangji's heart. He stopped trying to pull away from his husband's arms. The alpha was relieved. He was enjoying holding the omega in his arms more than he would let anyone know. "In a few months, his gift will stop working. No gift is permanent, even mine will come to an end in two years. That is why those were the terms of our contract."
