P.s. I do like Lan Xichen but need him to be close to Helios

On the last day of the conference, Wei Wuxian was sitting in one of the courtyards getting some air from all the political dribble he was being subjected to. Although he was more than happy to support his husband, he had always hated politics. As a child who grew up on the streets before becoming a fugitive cultivator protecting innocents, politics had only ever harmed him. No one was willing to listen to a nobody no matter how powerful he was. Back then he didn't know he was Baoshan Sanren's grandson. If you are not born from the main gentry then you are too low-born to have a brain to those people. He sat on a bench and closed his eyes trying to calm the anger the memories evoked. Letting the light breeze and warm sunlight wash over him was helping his chaotic thoughts to settle.

A sudden shadow falling over him made him open his eyes in annoyance. He could tell it wasn't his beloved since there was no soothing sandalwood scent. Lan Xichen's smiling face hovered less than five inches away from his making his recent calm scatter. " Excuse me brother-in-law, but I am a married omega. You are too close to be considered respectful to my husband and yours. So would you kindly back away to a more normal speaking distance." Lan Wangji had been coming to check on Wei Wuxian. Lanling was a dangerous place for women and omegas with Jin Guangshan's bigotry. The sect leader and closest disciples were known to treat omegas as property without choice.

Lan Wangji walked in to see the closeness between his brother and husband freezing where he stood. His heart started hammering in his chest like it was trying to escape his ribs. Would his brother try to take what was his again? Why was he even worried Wei Wuxian was just a contract? Plus wasn't that hypocritical to call Wei Wuxian his when he was disgusted with the way other alphas thought of omegas as property? Hadn't he just done the same? It still hurt almost physically for some unknown reason mixing with his shame. He hid behind the bushes near them to listen in, promising to write lines later as punishment for eavesdropping. The bitter feeling in his chest made him excuse the rules he was breaking.

Lan Xichen backed up a little bit looking at Wei Wuxian with a fake smile pasted firmly on his face. The rage in his eyes burned too brightly to hide from the former death god. Wei Wuxian put his most innocent face on hoping to make him even angrier. (Hey this man was part of the reason his beloved took his life.) "Madam Lan how dare you take advantage of my naive little brother. You will go back to the Lan Sect and ask for a divorce immediately." Wei Wuxian stared for a second before he burst out laughing. Lan Xichen snarled losing his smile at the blatant disrespect. He tried to use his dominating alpha aura to suffocate Wei Wuxian into submission.

The strong scent filled the courtyard in a flash making the hidden alpha tense. Lan Wangji was ready to rush out of his hiding place to help his husband. He stopped mid-step every limb in his body refusing to respond. He was forced to take a look at what was in front of him without being able to interfere. It was not because of Lan Xichen. Lan Wangji's aura and scent had always been stronger than his brother's. This was different. Wei Wuxian released his powerful aura negating Lan Xichen's making the alpha kneel in submission. Lan Xichen was scrambling to breathe looking at Wei Wuxian like he was a monster.

Lan Wangji could see Wei Wuxian's eyes flash crimson as he stared down at his brother in righteous anger. The amount of power his husband exuded at that moment was petrifying. Wei Wuxian felt more dangerous than anything he had ever seen. Yet he looked so stunningly beautiful. Lan Wangji couldn't help but want him. His long hair floated in a nonexistent wind swaying gently in opposition to the violently suffocating killing intent in the air. Even with the danger in front of him, something told Lan Wangji that if the world fell to Wei Wuxian he would still be fine. It was strange that after so little time he trusted his husband so much. He should have been worried about his brother. He was not. His betrayal was still too recent for his heart to care.
