The next morning I awoke, hearing knocking at my door.
' Right the mission.' I sighed at got up sleepily. I swung the door open slowly curious to see who it was.
"Morning!" Hange beamed. Worry slowly swept over her face, seeing me still in my sleeping clothes and my face kinda pale.
"Oh no, are you alright? We have our expedition in an hour." Hange then stuck their nose up in the air smeelling the new scent of my candles. "Oooh... something smells nice. Is that a candle?"
I blinked my tired eyes."Yes..." Hange was awesome, I loved helping with their work, but Erwin kept me up late...him and Mike because of that candle. I felt so drained.
"You look really tired though, are you sure you are okay with this expedition."
"Yes.. I kind of have no choice, I'm not sick or injured."
"Hmm..alright. Just don't push it. I will go make you some strong tea."
After I received my tea, I got ready and put the rest of my uniform on. The tea helped organize my thoughts. Hange said she would get my horse ready for me till I showed up.
I left the building where HQ was and stepped out to the stables. Where many other scouts were gathering and already on their horses.
'Just live through this day...me and my friends, that is all I want.'
Erwin was talking to Levi. Holding the reins of their horses. Hange waved to me with a smile. With my horse and hers.
"Here you go.! Your friend is ready. Oh looks like that tea did the trick, your face looks a bit better."
"Thank you Hange. Can I ask which squad I'm with? you are Levi?"
"You will start with me. You will ride up in front with me, Erwin, Levi, and Mike. After we enter the area, we will part in the direction we were told to go. Today were are meant to see how many titans there are, and clear some out. Erwin told me I may capture one if it's a good size. Who knows maybe we will find something new."
I nod my head." I understand, okay that commander." I smiled.
"Aw please no, you are my closest friend no need to call me commander hehe." Hange stood next to my horse, and I pulled myself up. While I did this Erwin and Levi glanced at me.
'Good she is awake, ooh...wait.my god. ___'s face....' Erwin sighed. He almost flinched when Levi started talking to him.
"Looking half dead already..pft. What one earth was ___ up to? look at those damn eye bags."
"L-Levi..._____ may still be in top form. Don't be so quick to say she has no chance. ___ is strong." 'As much as I hate to say it....___ does look indeed tired..is this my fault??'
Erwin climbed up on his white horse and trotted over to me. Hange already mounted her horse.
"Morning _____." Erwin greeted me.
"Hello, Erwin." I tried to smile.
Erwin felt bad for commenting about how I looked, so he instead said. "Are you ready for this plan?"
"Yes, I am."
"Good. Hange will be with you." Hange smiled nodding to Erwin. 'Strong still, that's good but still I worry. I can't watch ____, Hange will have to do that.'
"Very well we leave soon. Join us in the front in 5 mins."
"Yes sir." I replied.
(Sometime Later)
Erwin led us out to the open land beyond the walls. I haven't seen or heard a thing about Erwin since, not even Levi or Mike.
"Hange, how long are we going to be out here?" It's been hours. I rode next to her on horseback. We weren't galloping like in the beginning no, we were slowly trotting along.
"Till a smoke signal tells us too I suppose. Why are you tired? this area isn't that bad right now."
"No, I don't think I should rest, not here. It's just quiet. It's just me and you now...it's been hours."
"I know... we could head in that direction though." Hange pointed. " If I remember correctly, that way is roughly Levi and Erwin. This are is pretty clear of titans, I think it's fine."
We changed our course and headed towards where our friends might be.
I only looked up for a moment, and behind many many trees far ahead, flew a purple smoke signal up.
"S-smoke!"
"Oh no..it's purple."
"Hange we must hurry!" Fear hit me, thinking about the wost. Was someone special to me injured?
"W-wait! we need to be careful, who knows what is there." "Alright, just let's go. They need us."
"You are a good person ____. I promise to help you in any way I can."
Speeding up the horses we galloped towards the purple smoke.
