Mary separated from the group after the whole ordeal. She couldn't that Michael didn't sympathize with Oscar, the poor dude was just doing his job for a bunch of schizos. However, she couldn't think much about it because as she was just about to go elsewhere, someone entered through the door...

"...Alright then." - Said Nol as he quickly understood the situation.
"Please take the corpse for cremation." - Nol whispered, as the guards nodded their heads and carried the body onto another of the hallways of the facility.
"Now that we have taken care of that, I would love to introduce you all to your tasks within this facility." - Announced Nol, as everyone was nervous and quite saddened by the previous event.

Nol began to assign everyone to their proper tasks, some were tasked with brainstorming ideas to "reassess matter". Others were assigned to help with weaponry and stuff that was already being built. As everyone else left to do their thing, Nol looked to the only group that was left, Mary, Jacob, Michael and Jane.

"You four are going to assist me with a task of utmost importance." - Said Nol to the four of them with a face none of them had seen.
"I trust you the most since you are the most intelligent of the bunch, so do not say a word about this, or your contract is over, understand?" - Nol Asked, as everyone silently nodded.

Nol began walking toward a hallway they swear wasn't there before. The imponent man entered one of the many rooms, it was a huge room with pure white walls and strong lights that illuminated every corner. In the center was a huge weapon that resembled a cannon but was much more futuristic. It was around 20 meters tall and it must've weighed like 200 tons quite easily.

The group entered the room and Nol looked at them, giving them instructions.

"This one here is a prototype, it's used to disperse atoms for more space to be created. As you know, matter cannot be created or destroyed, but we have been able to disperse it, essentially creating more space. When aimed into an object, it will seemingly destroy it, but in actuality the atoms just shoot into all directions, allowing you to walk into the space that was used by the object." - Explained Nol, as everyone understood and were fascinated by such fancy machinery.

"Question, is this "Cannon" supposed to clean something like... trash?" - Asked Mary about the immense weapon. Hearing that question, Nol sighed.

"I guess I'm going to have to tell you the truth about... all of this. Eventually, you would've discovered it by going up the ranks or just by mere curiosity." - Stated Nol as he began to explain the context behind all of this.
"We are suffering a crisis. Trash is being strategically thrown at every living planet within the multiverse. At first, we thought this was a way of some greedy civilization or perhaps an alien one to dethrone certain planets, but these people were indiscriminately throwing around trash at every planet and knew about our strategies and our infrastructure. We are at the top of the chain in this multiverse, so there's no way any alien civilization could've known this, and this was not an attack from some stupid civilization looking for war. This was something to eradicate all of us." - Explained Nol to the others, as they began to understand more and more the situation.
"I thought of hiding this from all of you, but since you've heard it from Oscar himself, yes, this is from the rebels themselves. They plan to kill all life so no one can suffer the "wrath" of their god. We do not know how they acquired such power to do all of this and bypass any detection as well as security, but they are a multiversal threat and we need to counteract this movement. This cannon here will eliminate peta-tons worth of trash all in one go." - Nol told everyone, as they stood there in shock about all of the information that was given to them.

"And is this efficient? Like how much trash is there?" - said Michael, a little bit nervous about all of this.

"This is an early prototype so we don't know, but the amount of trash if left unchecked would be around two multiplied by ten to the potency of 38 kilograms." - Everyone would be scared about this amount, which would be capable of crushing every city and civilization if strategically played.
"Which is why we need you." - Said Nol as everyone understood what they had to do.

"Alright, let's do this then!" - Stated Jane, ready to save the multiverse alongside her friends.

"For now this Cannon can be in one place connected to a bunch of cables, or it can be picked up and used by other heavy machinery for more mobility, but it is still quite ineffective." - Nol stated about the Cannon, unsure about its efficiency.
"It's supposed to shoot something akin to lightning, which upon impact, disassembles matter as I previously mentioned." - Said Nol, looking further into the machine.

"Lightning... Cannon... Lightning Cannon?" - Mary said, as Nol looked at her.

"Lightning Cannon... that's a good name, yeah I think we'll start calling him that." - Nol spoke, as Mary got a bit excited for her idea to be taken into consideration. "We've already tested a lot with this... Lightning Canon, but we haven't been able to make it efficient enough or be used by anyone." - Stated Nol, worried about the current situation.
