The day yet again rose anew into the land, rest time was over and Mary herself knew it better than anyone else. She'd been watching the day come by and go as she didn't need any sleep or sustenance, only her energy from a battery. Her battery at the moment is at 65%, which is a really good sign. She unplugs herself and gets up, stretching her enhanced body and going outside for a walk, Jane wouldn't mind if she just strolled around a bit, right?
Mary walked into the deep forest as she pondered about everything she'd been living through, the nightmares that no one should ever live through or even hear about, and there she was, only with 2 people that talked to her and with the only goal of "survival". Survival for her was such a vague term now, it was almost meaningless and so easy. Survival was not her priority, but rather not fall into the mouth of insanity that tempted to devour her.The deep forest had elongated and huge trees that extended into the sky seemingly without an end. There was a lot of fauna both common and uncommon all over the floor, the grass was as green as the color of green itself and the sky's air was fresh, fresher than everything Mary had ever felt.
Some leaves from the trees portruded downward, which Mary quickly ignored and kept walking away from the shack whilst not caring for what life she found in her way, she just ignored it, ignored it because her thoughts and memories were far stronger. After the surgery her willpower and mind began to weaken, she felt alone, she felt more anguish, more hatred and more everything. She now was a more reserved person than before and the worst part was those lustful feelings that she had to put under control every 30 minutes or so, rendering her motionless as her concentration slipped off her feet and into her mind, chaining those memories and thoughts plaguing her mind. If god was real, why would he allow such things to happen to a whole world?
She was not alone though, she thought. Jane was with her and more importantly, the voice. The voice was like an old friend of hers like she knew it from somewhere but couldn't pinpoint it exactly. The voice listened to her, it complimented her and motivated her. It wasn't an annoying voice or some thought she had to control, it was an actual listener, an observer. It helped Jane and in turn, it helped her, it gave her knowledge and it gave her... friendship.
Maybe this was all a dream? A lucid dream that was so realistic and long that would break the Record for the longest and most realistic dream ever. As she thought about this, she pinched herself on the arm with more strength than any real human.
"Ouch." - Mary yelped as her skin was almost ripped off from the enhanced flesh, maybe it wasn't a dream? Maybe it was her fate after all.
"Why... Why Why WHY, WHY DIDN'T I CONTROL MYSELF?!" - Mary screeched as she tumbled onto the ground and punched it, tears rolling from her eyes and lips trembling.
It was her fate for not helping her friends, it was her fate for not acting soon enough and it was her fate for not controlling herself in front of Jacob and not doing what she was supposed to do. The punches were so strong that nearby trees fell and the ground cracked. The birds flew away and the little animals ran away, scared from Mary's rage. It was almost as if nature itself feared Mary. She continued to punch the ground, creating a huge crater that expanded more and more as she punched the ground
When she thought about this, Mary tumbled onto the ground and punched it as tears rolled from her eyes.
Then the voice came."Hey, don't be so mad at yourself, you did what you could and that's all that matters girl." - The voice explained, which caught Mary's attention and immediately stopped hitting the ground.
"It IS my fault, if I controlled myself more and I helped Jacob, no, EVERYONE it could all be fixed." - Mary replied in between sobs and cries.
"Listen, it was inevitable for it to happen, but you don't have to grim about the past anymore, as I've told you. You've got me and Jane now, you can do things better now." - The voice added to Mary, trying to get her to calm down.
Mary acknowledged this fact and her sobs were quieter and quieter until she was simply looking at the ground, thinking about this whole ordeal like she has done so ever since she came here.
Her face looked depressed and her demeanor too, but the voice persisted.
"Please don't be so hard on yourself, I'm aware of what you're capable of and you're just incredible, really." - The voice cheered for Mary, trying to get Mary's hopes up with flattery.
"Here," - An ice cream appeared out of thin air in a purple-ish light and was handed to Mary.
"have an ice cream, that'll surely cheer you out." - The voice uttered as Mary looked at it and ate it. Mary still had taste buds so the ice cream was a good refresher.
"Thank you... I don't know what I'd do without you." - Mary looked up to the sky, trying to locate a face, but there was none.
"No worries, I'm your friend after all, that's what friends do!" - The voice stated enthusiastically as if he was jumping around Mary's mind.
"Now let's go back to the shack, Jane probably woke up from those punches and may be worried about you." - Indicated the voice to Mary as she began to walk back to the shack.
"Right." - She replied as she walked in the direction where the shack was.
Upon reaching the shack, Mary saw that Jane was indeed woken up by the shaking, but she had that look of someone that just woke up, she was pretty disoriented and didn't acknowledge that Mary wasn't there and could be in danger.
Jane turned to Mary and looked at her.
"Oh hey Mary, I... just woke up." - Jane announced as she was a bit tired. It was after all pretty early and Jane didn't even know Mary herself woke her up.
"Yeah, I can see that." - Mary replied in a coy manner.
Jane rubbed her eyes and began to grasp everything more clearly as she looked everywhere and her brain woke up some more.
"Wait... where'd you go?" - Jane questioned as she noticed Mary was outside and not charging herself. Jane looked at the sun's positioning and assumed it was early from how low it was.
"It's pretty early after all." - Jane finished her statement, looking at Mary.
"Uhhhh I went to take a stroll, that's all!" - Mary replied as she made up a fake excuse.
"I've been noticing that you just go outside a lot, yesterday you only came back inside the shack when it was extremely late, why is that?" - Jane inquired as her suspicions about something being wrong were rising.
"Oh you know, just looking at the view, it's pretty beautiful in the evening and at night." - Mary stated as she stood sternly and looked at Jane.
"Are you sure that everything's okay?" - Jane asked, trying to get on Mary's good side and not start any sort of conflict.
"Do you want to talk about it?" - Jane continued, attempting to know what was going on.
"...I-I'm fine." - Mary stuttered as she looked elsewhere, which Jane did pick up.
"Alright..." - Jane replied as she still kept her suspicions up, she would keep an eye on Mary for extra security, or maybe she was just overthinking things, but it's best to do that than to avoid another rampage from Mary.
"I trust you, and you trust me, but I don't want you to go rampant again, I want to help you." - Jane added as Mary looked away into the lake.
