A new day had been established, and Mary was more excited than yesterday, the reason being she had been selected for a special job in another universe. She had everything she needed, good clothes, sustenance, equipment and whatever else she needed, not like the card gave out that much information anyway. As she walked out of her room, her parents were waiting for her in the living room with breakfast ready, Mary, excited as she was ate everything in a flash.
"Are you sure you don't want anything else dear?" - Expressed the mother.
"Nope! I've planned everything for this trip Mom!" - Replied Mary.
Her mother, still a bit shocked and sad that her daughter would have to leave and live in another universe to work for the government, kissed her on the forehead and hugged her.
"Uh ma, I'm not a kid anymore." - Stated Mary.
"I know sweetheart, I just... I'm going to miss you..." - Told the mother to Mary, with tears in her eyes.
Upon seeing this, Mary replied to the hug, hugging her mother back in what seemed for minutes, yet, the time was drawing near for Mary to leave. Mary prepared everything and went to the garage where her father was, unlike her mother, Mary's father was a bit more reserved about his feelings and more "tough" yet you could feel a tangible aura that dictated that he was sad and overwhelmed by all of this so fast.
"You got everything dear?" - Asked the dad.
"Yup, I already said goodbye to Mom and I have everything here!" - Answered Mary while pointing to her bag.
"Alright then, get in." - Told the dad to Mary.
As the car beamed its fluorescent lights from the wheels to start flight to the place of the reunion, Mary was wondering several things from this petition. Why is it that the inter-universal government wanted to take her to some random place to work? And when she just got out of college? Shouldn't she have more experience in jobs or couldn't they get anyone else? Or is it that they have found out about her immense intelligence? All of these questions bombarded Mary like a warzone, yet the truth was soon to be revealed.
"Why do you think they got me to work with them when I just got out of college?" - Mary asked to her dad, trying to get him to share some of his wisdom, but he had nothing.
"I don't know..." - The dad sad and nostalgic tone. Mary took notice of this.
"Are you okay...?" - Her daughter asked, trying to see if everything was okay with her father and if he needed help.
"It's fine sweetie." - Mary's dad said, but deep down they both know he wasn't okay, none of them were.
"We're here." - Exclaimed the dad.
"Thanks, Pa." - Replied Mary.
"Hey... dear..." - The dad called out to Mary.
"What is it?" - Mary asked.
The dad would hug Mary like never before, having to deal with the fact that she'd be in another place for a long time, doing who knows what. Mary would hug her dad back, for what seemed like minutes...
"G'bye dad." - Mary said goodbye to her dad.
"Take care sweetie." - The dad replied.
After these caring words, the vehicle of Mary's dad took a flight home, and Mary was now in the building where she was expected to go, and where they'll pick her up.
Upon entering the building she saw really big vehicles that were used to transport people from one universe to another, often traveling trillions of light years, she had only seen or heard of those on the internet.
