This was a special day. As usual, the sun rose and it hit the windows in which the light shone through, as everyone woke up to their workday, the group was quite nervous as this project was going to be the harder one, and if they didn't succeed, not only was the multiverse in danger but also Mary's life. Mary woke up and decided to start her routine early, by brushing her teeth, washing her face and then heading to the dining room to eat breakfast.

As she sat down on one of the empty tables, she thought about the decision she was making. They were playing god here, and if something, even a slight calculation was wrong, it could have dire consequences. She ate down some cookies with chocolate milk and began thinking more about it, was she truly capable of doing it? Was she the best option they had? She had no prior military training nor did she think Nol trusted her enough, yet was this the only thing they could do? Mary finished her breakfast and waited for the others to wake up too.

She began to doubt her decision, and pointed to her flaws, up until this point everybody looked up to her as the "Perfect Girl" with no flaws whatsoever, yet the stress and nervousness were killing her, she was making mistake after mistake, treating her friends akin to dogs and losing her traits. Mary had baggy eyes and messy hair as well, she hadn't had time to fix herself in the middle of all this.
Everything that was once good didn't feel good, and she began to understand that no matter how perfect someone is, the world and fate will always matter the most, and the circumstances shape one's mind. In the distance, she could catch sight of three figures, which were Michael, Jane and Jacob approaching her table. They sat down with her and also had breakfast, but they noticed she had already finished her own.

"You woke up early." - Jacob commented, trying to start a conversation with Mary.

"Yeah." - Said Mary simply, as she shrugged off the attempt of Jacob to try to talk to her.

"U-Uhm, what did you eat Mary?" - Asked Jacob in a polite tone.

"Cookies with Chocolate Milk." - Mary replied shortly.

"Ah, your favourite is it not?" - Jacob asked, and Mary simply nodded to that question. There was an odd silence right after that, but Jane then broke the ice.

"Well uh... Are you guys ready to enact the... Cyborg Project?" - Jane said, trying to get the attention of everyone but perhaps talking about that was not the best thing.

"Yeah, I just hope everything goes well and we can save everyone..." - Replied Jacob, trying not to look at Mary whilst this cyborg conversation went on.

"I mean, if we got this far then we can do anything, right mates?" - Michael asked, trying to lift their friends's mood.

"Well yes, we've done a lot of work and it has gone well so far, there's no reason to back up now." - Jane commented, furthering the others's confidence.

"I have to agree, we can't give up now when everyone needs us." - Jacob stated, also trying to get Mary to talk a bit and be more confident in herself.

"Good on ya." - Replied Michael.

Yet Mary wasn't talking, she couldn't have the words to tell them that she didn't want to do this, she thought that it was too late for that and that she had to be responsible for her words. She didn't say anything in that conversation as others cheered among themselves, trying to get her to cheer up too, having noticed her lack of communication. Even after all the cheering and pep talk, Mary wouldn't stop thinking to herself about the whole situation and how everything just didn't feel the same as before, she wanted to go back to simpler times when everything was easy and she could spend any time she wanted with Jacob and her friends.

Mary tried to look into the bright side, at least she'd get paid a ton of money and she as well their parents would be set for life, as well as being recognized as the person that saved the multiverse. It was a tempting life, but the negatives that tired her mind were still there, even if she tried to ignore them.

As they kept cheering, Nol appeared in the dining room with his peculiar black hair that suck all light in and his mysterious yet calm gaze, he always wore a formal uniform on all occasions, and this was no exception. He caught everyone's attention, just as he had intended to.

"Gentlemen, as you all are aware the new Cyborg Project is our main concern. The materials and preparations are all ready to take place, we will begin shortly with the procedure." - Announced Nol, as Mary grew more anxious by the second.
"Mary, could you please come with me dear?" - Nol asked politely, as Mary stood up visibly shaking and following Nol.

Nol did notice this, however Mary was still brave and determined enough to follow him. They arrived at one of the most secluded rooms of the facility, yet it still was as big as the others. It was a huge medical room with tons of futuristic engines, tools like scalpels, metals and various other things that they would use. Mary rested on the bed that lay in the center of the room, as Nol began to explain the details.

"Everybody in this facility is going to participate in this procedure, as we need each specialist to take care of everything at a time. Now, there's plenty of medical staff as there are engineers, so you don't have to worry about the operation being a failure." - Nol explained, trying to get Mary to calm down, but she was still visibly nervous and shaking.

"I-I know." - Mary said, trying to keep her stutter down whilst talking to Nol.

"Are you sure you do not want to do this? We can find some other solution." - Nol tried to ask, but Mary was still determined to save everyone.
