Raiden Part 7: A final memory of you

Mei gazed at the city beneath her. Despite the chaos due to the warning and the fire from the collapsed building, it was a normal city. Maybe a bit dirty.

The thunderstorm above her rumbled freely as it pleased and the clouds looked heavy, maybe it was going to rain soon.

The Herrscher of thunder quietly sat down on the edge of the roof and looked down upon the street.

She wondered what she could have done to prevent this, what could she have done to prevent Himeko from this fate.

She had no answear to that.

Maybe one day the people she loves will understand why she had to do this.

She could already see Kiana and Bronya looking at her with disgust and hatred for killing Himeko. No matter what Kevin told her, to her it made no diffrence.

What would Theresa say?

Or Satomi?

Or Fu Hua?

Mei moved her hand to an hidden pocket in her Orochi Cuirass battlesuit and carefully pulled out a picture they all took togheter at the end of their first year at St. Freya. The edges where a bit torn and a bit of her blood got on it.

The four firstyears had been in their school uniforms while Theresa stood proudly beside them, Himeko and Satomi where behind them.

Kiana grinned like she used to while Bronya looked a bit more serious but also happy. Fu Hua was smiling too, Mei remembered Kiana making bad jokes to cheer their class monitor up.

It wasn't a bad time they had togheter.

Picking up beer cans, telling Kiana and Bronya to finaly go to bed, reminding Theresa to not overwork herself, cooking for them, going to the store with Satomi and reminding her that it was illegal to go over the speed limit (Valkyries don't have a speed limit, Satomi always said to that).

It might have been the best time in her life.

And now her heart felt empty and her chest hurt in a horrible way.

"Mei." Raven's voice rang through her comm. "Most people are off the streets, you can start." She said.

Nearly two hours after Akiko got her orders to find Mei, another Herrscher Signature was detected.

Raiden Mei, the Herrscher of Thunder willingly dropped the EM field around her to show a particular someone where to go.

"And here I was about to destroy the city." The enemy said from behind with Himeko's voice.

Mei turned around and faced her foe.
She didn't say anything but hoped it would be over quickly.

"And this is why I ask you to investigate the situation in Frankfurt alone, Welt." Satomi said. She and Emma had a long conversation about what exactly happened. Now she only needs to get Welt's approval to go. Well, she was going there anyways she only wanted to be respectful.

"I understand the situation, but that also means Otto is definetly missing." Welt said.

"Percisly." Satomi said with a nod.

Welt thought about it for a short second. A dragon appearing in a Schicksal city, then a building collapsing, and a Herrscher signature. Yeah this sounds like World Serpent.

"Okay, I officialy give you the mission to investigate on the current events in Frankfurt and help the local forces when you need to. But take Elham with you." Welt said. He wouldn't let Satomi go alone on a mission that was about the World Serpent.
