Damien's POV
You know how there are certain things which you dream of, strive to attain with so much passion and put so much effort for it to happen but when that thing actually happens. It doesn't really feel the way you expected it to be. It doesn't work the way you envisioned it to. The fact that I waited all these years for my brother to share the burden of this company with me so that I could live my life a little, but when it finally happened, life didn't feel the way it felt, with her around .
Well, thats what happened after Dan got better. He got better both mentally, emotionally. Thanks to everything that happened and thanks to her, he was right infront of me. Breathing, stuffing his mouth with a pack of chips, while tapping away on his laptop. He has been helping me with work a lot. Lot for a beginner. He is also handling the law aspect of our company. He wants take over the law firm that works for us. He lacks experience but not skill. He is simultaneously training under the legal director of the law firm for our company. Yes, he is multitasking but he is managing his ass pretty well. Not to mention, he even manages to make time for his annoying girlfriend.
And I, on the other hand, I can't even make her fall for me. I wonder if I'm cursed when it comes to love in my life. The only woman I ever fell in love with, the only woman who was worthy of it and I couldn't even tell her that I loved her.
Loved her?
You still love her.
I do. So much that-
The door to my study burst open and a tall figure with a pale face and clenched jaw walked in. "Why didn't you go to meet Mr Evans's daughter?" He exploded. His face turning red with anger when I ignored him and turned to my laptop and pretended to be typing on it. He nudged my laptop screen to shut with his one hand while his other hand was balled in fist. I sighed in exasperation. "I told you I had work. How many times are you going to ask me this?"
"What important work could you probably have then to go on a date with the daughter of one of the most beneficial allies of ours?" He gritted through his teeth. His face dripping with pure rage.
"Maybe going to a cafe." Dan winked at me, shutting his laptop and placing it aside.
This little shit.
My dad rubbed his temple with two fingers as if he was having a headache. But in reality, he was giving me a headache.
"Damien, you are already going to be thirty this year. Stop playing around. Its high time you settle in." He hissed at me taking a seat on the chair infront of my desk.
"Dad, I have already told you but I will tell you again. I will marry when I find someone good enough to be my wife."
"Maybe he already found someone." Dan snickered as he made his way to the desk.
Look at him, enjoying all this drama like a noble lady.
But I wasn't the type to let him get away with it.
"Since you really don't care about anything but making alliances through our marriage to strengthen our company maybe you should consider marrying Dan off, since now he is turned into a strong responsible adult." It was my turn to wink.
This definitely hit his nerve as I could hear him gritting his teeth in anger. Dan immediately jumped into our heated argument. "I have told you before but I will say it again. I already love someone and she loves me too. And we are dating."
He really needs to know when not to speak. One more word and my dad's rage would shoot through the ceiling.
"Okay. Fine. I was only trying to help you. There's been a rumor among the board members that they should replace you from the head of the Hotel project as you are a bachelor and wouldn't know much responsibilities."
