I walked upto the room my mom was in.  "Are you sure you want to come in?" I asked him as I looked up to search his face. "Yeah." He asserted. "I think it is better that your mother knows about our marriage now. She would be devastated if she found out much later. And we don't want that." I smiled at his concern for our mother-daughter relationship. Sometimes I just feel he is such a sweetheart. He gives this sweet vibe that I don't think I can resist anymore. His sweetness is melting my frozen heart.

Not so frozen heart, after you met him.

"Okay, I'm not responsible for anything that you are questioned on the other side of this door." He cocked his head to the side. "Why? What is it that she will ask?"

"We are about to find out." I smirked as I clicked open the door. My mom was sitting on the bed staring out of the window. The room seemed to be filled with this gloomy energy but when we entered the room she titled her head to look at me and then us, her lips curved into a sweet smile lighting up the room like the Christmas lights.

I was about to step into the room further when Damien grabbed my hand and then gestured me to walk.

Shit. I forgot we were getting married.

Its a fake one though.

"Hi, Mom. How are you feeling?" I asked as I bent down to hug her.

She playfully slapped my cheek before she said "You were gone for a day. Stop treating me like a kid."

"But you are my baby." I whined, squeezing her cheek playfully.

"Okay. Okay. Don't freak this young man here and introduce us." She squealed sounding so excited. It has been so long since I saw her so full of life. She shifted in her bed patting the free space on her side as a gesture for me to sit there. I sat there gesturing Damien to take the seat on the stool.

"How long has it been since I saw you with a man, Lovi... 5 years?" She mumbled, placing a finger on her chin as if she was thinking.

"I'm impressed you got it right." I praised.

"Of course I would. I have been worried sick that you would never settle down with someone." She whined.

"Alright. Right. Allow me to introduce you to Damien Reiss. He is...my... "

" ....her boyfriend. Its a pleasure to meet you ma'am. I have heard a lot about you from Lovi."

I was grateful he took the wheel but I narrowed my eyes when I heard the last part. He was such smooth liar.

"Oh my god. Hi, Damien. And please call me, Evelyn or Evy." She smiled brightly at him and then at me. She leaned close to whisper in my ear."I already like him. He is so handsome."

I rolled my eyes at her. "When Lovi told me she is bringing in her boyfriend, I was worried because she has a shit taste in men. But now that I see you, I feel relieved. Finally maybe Lovi found the right man."

"Mom." I whined, she giggled and Damien chuckled too.

Look at them already ganging up against me.

"Rest assured, Mrs Adams. Your daughter might have a shit taste in men. But I have a refined taste in woman. She is best I could ever find." He assured, placing a hand on my Mom's hand and my heart instantly melted more from his warmth and care towards my mother then his words.

His mama raised him so well.

Geez. You will fall for him.

I think I already have.

They giggled together and I swear this was the first time there was happiness in my life after my mom's cancer.

"I see now, why Loviana is so gorgeous, smart, independent and amazing. She takes after you." My eyebrows shot up to the sky. Such a smooth talker. My mom giggled again and I masked my impressed face and turned around to give a really look to Damien but his gaze was already on me.
