Prologue
"Sis... can you please come to my bookshop? There's a reading here tonight, a young author who publishes his books himself and sells them in my shop because the big publishers have rejected him. He's an undiscovered diamond, I think he could be the chance for you to finally get promoted to publisher..." my brother shouted excitedly from my cell phone, so that I had to hold it a few centimeters away from me.
"Namjoon, I hear you're excited, but you still don't have to shout at me. " I replied with a grin. When he got excited about something, he was like a little kid... I wondered why no one had caught him yet. He was absolutely the cutest creature on the planet and if I said that as his sister, then that meant something.
"I'm sorry... I guess I got carried away again." he said meekly.
"It's all right... I'll be right over. I trust your nose... if there's anyone who reads more than I do, it's you," I replied gently. We said goodbye and I drove off to my family's bookshop, which my brother had taken over three years ago when our parents said that Seoul was now too noisy for them and they wanted to live a quiet life in the country. At the time, Namjoon had just finished university, while I still had to study fiction for another year. I was now working for a small publishing house, had worked my way up to editor, but really wanted to publish a book and continue climbing the career ladder. Unfortunately, this was only possible if you found an author yourself and they entrusted you with their work. So far, I had either been too young and inexperienced for the authors or their work hadn't convinced me. I wasn't allowed to present anything to my boss, it would have to blow him away. So I was very grateful to my brother because he kept his eyes open for me and if he was impressed, then the author had to be good.
When I entered the store, the reading had just started. Curious, I sat down, put my handbag down on the empty seat next to me while I hung on the lips of the young man who was sitting in front of us on the podium, which was not very high but visibly separated from the audience, his book in his hand and reading aloud. The story was about a young woman who stood in for her sister as a stewardess and crashed with a famous band, ended up on a desert island with them and fell in love with all 7 men. I liked the story, it was something different, funny and with a lot of eroticism, it had potential. But what distracted me and fascinated me even more, which had nothing to do with my professional opinion, was his voice. So calm and at the same time expressive, with an absolutely pleasant sound, I could have listened to him forever. When he had finished after an hour of rehearsal reading, he raised his head and only then did I look him in the face. My breath was taken away, I had never seen anyone with such beautiful eyes... In general, he was really handsome, but his smile seemed a little shy. My brother spotted me and came rushing towards me, took my hand and pulled me forward, I barely managed to grab my bag. Stumbling, I stopped in front of the author, holding on to Namjoon's arm so that I didn't fall on the man who was still sitting in the armchair where he had just been reading.
"Yoongi, this is my sister, Kim Y/N, I told you about her. Y/N, this is Min Yoongi... You two should talk... I'll get you some tea and cookies." He literally ran to the small kitchen, leaving his assistant Jimin, a student who was earning some extra money here, standing alone at the cash desk where people were all trying to pay for their signed copies of today's reading. He looked after his boss, shaking his head, but couldn't be angry with him any more than I could.
"Hello, nice to meet you," I said politely, held out my hand to Yoongi and then sat down in the chair next to his. He looked into my eyes and smiled, at that moment the world stood still... I knew it was him... the love of my life... his smile made my heart melt and go crazy at the same time, he too seemed completely absorbed in my eyes, even forgetting that he was still holding my hand in his.
"I'm sure we'll work together successfully..."
