a small group had come to check out the explosion from the exodus ship. arabella and clarke hadn't said a word, bellamy had to tell clarke what happened. arabella had spent so long hating her father, just as she was on her way to forgiving him, he dies. she felt guilty like it was her fault.

as arabella walked through the wreckage, she accidentally stepped onto a corpse, well bones that crumbled beneath her feet. she stumbled back, her hand flying to cover her mouth. she looked down at the almost black bones.

she felt a hand on her shoulder, arabella jumped slightly and turned around to see bellamy behind her. the girl let out a sigh. "at least it was quick, i'm glad he didn't feel it." she hoarsely spoke.

he planted a kiss on her head, rubbing her shoulder softly. he wasn't sure what he could say to her, because he knew nothing he said would make it better.

arabella held the gun in her hand, her eyes only looking at the mess around her. she shrugged bellamy's hand off of her shoulder and walked away from him. she didn't want to be cold towards him, it was the last thing she wanted. but she always handled emotions differently and her way was shutting people out and pushing them away.

"stay sharp." she heard bellamy say. "grounder retaliation for what happened on the bridge is coming, just a matter of when."

"can you blame them?" finn asked.

"no, i blame you."

"maybe if you didn't bring guns..."

raven interrupted finn. "if we didn't bring guns, we all would've been killed. arabella was inches away from being shot in the chest with an arrow."

"i'm right here, thank you, raven." arabella snapped, rolling her eyes.

"why they're coming doesn't matter anymore. it's our job to be ready when they do." bellamy spoke. "we're on our own now."

arabella walked over to clarke. she was looking at something dripping from a broken part of the ship. they both stepped back at the smell.

"arabella, clarke, stop!" they heard raven shout as she ran over to the two.

"rocket fuel?" clarke asked.

"hydrazine." raven corrected. "highly unstable in its non-solid form. if this stuff meets fire, we're all pink mist." she added as she dipped a small rock into the liquid. "fire in the hole!" she yelled, throwing the rock into the distance, making an explosion happen. "we need to clear the area."

"okay, then." bellamy said. "we move in formation, no straggling, weapons hot." he ordered. "we got to get back before dark."

...

the group began to walk back to the camp, bellamy stayed at arabella's side but neither of them said a word to the other.

it got dark by the time they made it back to camp but they were instantly met by someone telling them murphy was back. arabella lit up instantly and she sprinted into the drop ship to see murphy tied up and sitting against a wall.

"oh my, god." arabella softly cried out as she knelt next to him. his face was almost covered in blood and his arms were all cut up. "oh, murphy."
