The train ride was longer than Leland had thought it to be, and it didn't take long for him to grow tired of the scenery. Somewhere along the ride of it all, the trees outside of his cart window soon turned to just grass . And it was the type of dry grass that made him think that it hasn't rained in this part of Texas for a long time. It was a boring watch that nearly put him to sleep a couple of times, and if it wasn't for the small novel that Ana had packed for him - he might've just slept for the whole thing.
He could feel the small ache in his legs, when the train finally reached its destination - and he stood up from his seat. He had to stretch them out just a little bit, bending them a couple of times - before reaching into the overhead compartment - and retrieving his suitcases. He pulls them down with just a small grunt, before finally making his way off the train - amongst the others who were getting off at this stop. The air was a bit crispy when he was met with it, and it felt dry around him as well - he was finally coming to the realization that maybe he shouldn't have worn a black long sleeve shirt today, along with his denim jeans. He couldn't help the small frustrated noise that left his mouth, as he made his way inside of the station. Cruel heat was one of the main things that Leland was never a fan of, and if it continues to be like this for the next three months - Leland might have a real problem with it all.
Once he was standing inside the station itself, the cool breeze of the box aircon above him made him feel just a little bit better. He places the suitcases down by his feet, as he digs out that piece of paper from his pocket - and he unfolds it so he can read exactly what he was meant to do. Ana's mother had left only simple instructions, telling him that someone would be there to pick him up; they should be holding a sign with his name. And if he was to get lost at all, she wrote down a phone number for the family he would be staying with. He lets a small sigh out at the paper, before shoving it back into his pocket - and taking a look around the station.
There were many people all clustered in the room, standing so close that Leland couldn't tell some apart. And it frustrates him just a little bit, because not only is he miles away from the woman he loves; he's stuck inside a cramped train station, trying to find a member of this fucking family he's meant to work and stay with. His eyes soon land on an older woman standing not too far from where he was, a big sign in her hand that has the words 'McKinney' printed on them. He lets a small sigh of relief out at that, finally locating the person he was meant to find - and he picks his suitcases up once more, as he makes his way over to where the woman was standing.
He can make out that she has short brown hair that's pushed back with a beige coloured headband, and a pair of thick cat-eyed glasses sit on her nose. She is not that much shorter than him when Leland makes his way over to her, and when he gets closer he can see the moment a smile stretches across her face. It brings out some of the wrinkles on her face, showing her age towards him - and Leland offers up a tiny smile as well, when he's finally in front of the older woman.
His eyebrows almost raise to his hairline, when he notices that one of her eyes has a more cloudy look to it. But he knows better than to comment on something like that, so instead he just offers out his hand for her to shake - and she accepts it gratefully.
"Leland McKinney?" She asks politely, her western accent was thicker than he thought it would be.
"That would be me," Leland answers her question with a small smile, "I apologize for intruding on your family like this, please accept my apology the best you can." He finishes it off, by bringing her hand up to his mouth - so he can kiss at the soft skin on the back of her hand.
"Oh don't be silly sweetheart," She says with a small laugh, her cheeks flushing red just a tiny bit from the gesture, "Angela Flores is a dear friend of mine, and when she called up for this favour I wasn't going to turn her away from it. So you're the one who will be marrying the lovely Ana Flores, yes?"
