To Leland's surprise when he awoke in the morning, he found the right side of his bed to be unoccupied. His body was still a bit tired as he blinked his eyes open, his vision wasn't completely good yet either; and he could feel a wave of confusion wash through his body at the emptiness of his bed.
He knows last night he fell asleep wrapped up in Ana's arms, shutting his brain off for the night to avoid any thought of Johnny; and forcing himself to think everything would be okay. So awakening today without her by his side, makes him panic for just a moment. He's afraid that he might've said something in his sleep for her to hear, and Leland knows if that was the case - then he would be screwed in the worst way possible. A part of him doesn't want to get out of the bed right now, doesn't want to face the possibilities of what he might've done. But he knows that he has to, he has to pull himself out of this and find her.
Chances are Leland didn't even do anything and it was just his own guilt trying to trip him up on it. But he still feels so uneasy as he sits himself up in the bed, letting a small yawn out.
He allows himself to sit on the bed for another couple of minutes, letting his mind run wild for a hot second as well; before deciding on finally pulling himself off it and making his way towards the clothes cupboard. His eyebrow automatically raises when he sees Ana's clothes mixed in with his own, and it's still so surreal that she's here right now - on the farm, in this house - Ana was here. And even though he spent all day with her yesterday, it still didn't feel real to him.
He's unsure of if that's a good thing to feel or not, and he lets a small sigh out as he dresses himself into clean clothes.
His heart still aches towards Ana, and he knows that underneath all the problems he's facing right now; he still loves her with everything inside of him. But then he thinks of Johnny, he thinks about how hurt that man looked in the kitchen when Leland pulled away from him. And it makes his heart ache in the other way, the way that destroys Leland just a little bit more. He remembers how cold Johnny turned towards them all in the dining room as well, and he lets a sad sigh out when he remembers how the taller man made his exit. Declaring that he was going out, Leland was unsure if he even came home last night.
He hates the crossroad that he's put himself in, and it's ironic for him to feel this way as well - since he was the one who decided to do this. He was the one who approached Johnny and told that man that he wanted to do this. He wanted to search the grounds of what they had, see what they could be; despite the clear ending that was painted in front of him. Leland was the only one to blame for this, and it's a responsibility that he doesn't want to claim at all.
But seriously, how did Leland think this could go any other way? Because at the end of the day, he was still to go back home to Ana at the end of the month... And then what? What was he supposed to do then? He played this game with Johnny, put himself into a hole with no rope - and now he's expecting an easy way out? It's ironic, it's hilarious and Leland just wants to break down over it.
He can't though, not now anyway. Because his main focus at this point of time is trying to find where Ana disappeared too.
Why wasn't she in bed when he awoke this morning? Where did she go?
It's not even eight in the morning yet, and Leland can already feel the headache start to sink in on his brain.
He lets another sigh out in the room, shaking his head briefly - before making his way out of the bedroom. The hallway is empty when he steps into it, and he raises an eyebrow, as he looks down both parts of the hall. There's this split moment he has up here, looking down the side that leads to Johnny's room and he almost makes his way there. His feet almost take him to the door of the man who he just can't face right now. He can feel the way his heart drops a tiny bit when he goes against it, how it stoops to the lower part of his stomach; and some form of Leland wishes it will fade away in the stomach acid.
