A week has come to pass for Leland staying at the Sawyer family, and it was safe to say his body was feeling it.

Drayton hadn't been lying when he told him that the work was only going to get harder; because the very next day he was being thrown onto the kill floor with Jedidiah himself. To follow and copy what the taller man does, and when it came to his turn for actually killing the cattle itself - Leland managed to miss completely, and cut his own arm in the process. He was just thankful that it didn't go too deep, and wouldn't leave a hefty scar on his skin from it. He still remembers how much shit Johnny had given him over it, and Leland remembers how embarrassed he felt as well.

Drayton didn't seem to care too much over it, just thanking the lord it wasn't something that required paperwork - because Leland fears that the older man may have his head if it went that far. After he got himself cleaned up and a bandage wrapped around him, he was put back in the room with Jedidiah and told to try again. It took him a couple of tries to get the hang of it, and he's still not sure he'll ever get used to the noise that cattle make; when his knife enters their skin and takes their life. But he's slowly learning how to block it out like the family do, and Jedidiah seems to give him happy grunts when he does something right. He still can't figure out exactly how that tall man feels about him, but he'll take what he can get - when he thinks that it's a positive noise towards him.

He was also able to call Ana every afternoon as well, going for the phone just after dinner - in hopes to catch her before she grew too tired. She would tell him all about the day she had, filling him in on everything her and Danny get up too - and it makes Leland's heart soar just a little bit. He wants these months to come to their end, so he can be back home with the woman of his dreams - and not have to live out the days she explains to him, through his own mind. He even got to talk to Danny a few times as well, catching up with the man and his own life. Danny was always a good laugh as well, and he cracked a couple of jokes that made Leland look like a mad man on the phone when he would laugh back at them. More than once Johnny has caught him in the middle of this, and he's giving him this type of smirk that never sits well inside of Leland's stomach.

He still can't fully figure out this man, and the more time Leland spends with him - he's not sure if he wants to. He's come to the conclusion that Johnny can be a little bit of an arrogant person - and a hell of a lot cocky. He's starting to believe that when Nancy told him that Johnny was the quiet one, that she may have been lying to him. Because any chance that Johnny can get, he's speaking to Leland - and he's making these small comments on the side that make Leland's mind race just a little bit. He's unsure if Johnny does most of this on purpose to get under his skin, or if this is just genuinely what he was like with people. Either way, Leland thinks he might benefit more if he just stayed a little bit away from Johnny and did his work here.

Of course though, things don't always come that easy to him and Leland is spending nearly every day with Johnny. It seems that maybe Johnny has grown an interest in him in some form of way, because the only time Leland can really catch a break - is when he's locked away in the bedroom and ready for bed.

It's finally a Saturday here on the farm, and it was one of the only days where they didn't have to go to work. Leland was thankful for that, his body having the time it needed to relax a little bit so his muscles could stop clamming up on him. He spent the early hours of the morning just laying in the bed, wrapping himself up in the sheets and just enjoying how comfy it really was for him. When he finally pulled himself out of it, and had his morning routine of showering and getting ready - he went down the stairs, and joined the family at the dinner table for breakfast.
